ON THE IMPEACHMENT OF VP SARA DUTERTE AND THE ARREST OF SEN.

Every dream begins with the courage to claim something as your own. Every goal starts with the boldness to possess something. For many young women, entrepreneurship embodies this passionate mindset.

At 23, Nella Marie Dizon, a second-year Business Administration student, also personifies this principle through her courage in penetrating the business industry. While managing academic responsibilities, she juggles the desire to build her own ventures and carve a space for herself as a young entrepreneur.

Outside the classroom and beyond the business, Nella finds confidence through creativity. She is an influencer who enjoys dancing and expressing herself on social media, while also exploring opportunities as a small actress. These spaces allow her to connect with others and discover identity beyond academic expectations.

Growing up surrounded by business through her parents introduced her to entrepreneurship early, yet expectations never dictated her direction. She was encouraged to explore possibilities rather than pressured to follow a single path.

The turning point came when she earned her own income for the first time. That experience sparked a desire to create something she could truly call her own. Business became more than just a career option. For Nella, it became a platform for freedom, creativity, and personal growth.

Her entrepreneurial journey began glazing on something sweet. By introducing Linger Chocolate, she started her venture inspired by both personal interest and market opportunity. As someone who considers chocolate her comfort food, desserts carried emotional meaning long before they became a business idea, even after she experienced allergic reactions to chocolate during childhood.

She envisioned crafting locally-made treats that could rival the quality of the popular "Dubai Chocolate" trend while remaining accessible to Filipino consumers. The concept transformed a simple craving into a growing enterprise grounded in creativity and ambition.

The early stages were challenging. Customer demand fluctuated, manpower was limited, and budgets had to be adjusted at all times. However, each challenge helped her build her confidence. Every problem solved became proof that growth happens through experience rather than certainty.

Entrepreneurship soon became a space for experimentation. Wanting to introduce something unique, Nella launched Dipโ€™d, a dessert concept combining fruits and chocolate through frozen banana treats. The idea offered customers a familiar flavor, presented in a refreshing, innovative way.

Her willingness to explore new concepts reflected an evolving entrepreneurial mindset. Rather than remaining within one idea, she learned to adapt and respond to changing preferences.

Nella later launched another venture, Yohsan, serving wagyu on sticks and in rice bowls. She, however, emphasizes the importance of strengthening and building on the current ventures. To Nella, entrepreneurship is not about expanding and growing, but about steady progress, one step at a time.

Managing academics alongside entrepreneurship remains her greatest challenge. Both roles demand equal dedication, turning time management into a daily balancing act.
Sleepless nights often mean reviewing coursework while monitoring orders and responding to customers long after classes end. Some days begin with lectures and end with business decisions, leaving little room for rest but teaching discipline beyond the classroom.

There are moments when choosing between school requirements and business responsibilities feels overwhelming for Nella. Still, these experiences reshaped her confidence. Through pressure and fatigue, she discovered her resilience and capability. Even on difficult days, she continues to put her best foot forward, believing that consistency matters more than perfection.

Being a woman entrepreneur means something that goes beyond success. This is one of Nellaโ€™s beliefs in building her achievement. Having something that one created with oneโ€™s own hands means something that goes beyond triumph, something that means being independent and believing in oneโ€™s potential.

She knows that being a woman in entrepreneurship is unique. โ€œOften, we have to prove ourselves more and work harder to be taken seriously, and there are expectations we have to balance that men donโ€™t always face,โ€ she said. Despite this challenge in society, she acknowledges that women also bring unique strengths that shape how they lead and decide.

With leadership as an important aspect of success, Nella carries the ingredients of empathy, communication, a collaborative nature, and attention to detail to make better decisions. Her leadership style is grounded in inclusivity and balance, showing that strength in business means compassion and understanding. As a student, she learns. As an entrepreneur, she builds. As a young woman finding her place, she proves that strength is not measured by how easy the journey is, but by the courage to continue it.

Nellaโ€™s hustle is a testament that dreams do not wait for the right time. They grow with us, shaped by our perseverance, our passion, and our conviction that young women have the capacity to write their own futures.

Students from the School of Business and Accountancy (SBA) garnered multiple awards at the 13th Students in Non-Academic Greatness (SINAG) Awards, themed โ€œAlaya: The Dawn of Greatness,โ€ on May 5, at the Peter G. Nepomuceno (PGN) Auditorium.

The SINAG Awards is an annual event of Holy Angel University (HAU) that recognizes students who excel in non-academic fields such as sports, journalism, leadership, and other co-curricular activities.

The program opened at 9:30 A.M. with remarks from University President Leopoldo Jaime Valdez, followed by the first set of awards honoring students in sports and journalism.

In his message, Mr. Valdez said, โ€œKeep leading and inspiring others, and we can all rise together as a culture of greatness and resilience.โ€

The second set of awards recognized achievers in co-curricular competitions, while the final set highlighted student leaders from the University Student Government (USG), including the University Student Council (USC), College Student Councils (CSC), as well as scholars and student assistants.

The ceremony concluded at 11:30 A.M. with closing remarks from Student Affairs Director Iris Ann G. Castro.

Year in, year out, we experience it in one way or another.
Its rhythm relentless, binding, and mesmerizing.
The very momentum of progress.
The ruler of success, wealth, and resolve.
A highway paved by the pioneer and the hard worker.

Labor.

In every class we sit through for hours on end.
In every project we pour painstaking passion into.
The roads some of us sweep, only for the leaves and litter to return.
The canteens we clean, only for the mess to miraculously reappear.
The work we put into making lives easier, better, or more bearable.

And what comes after this?

After every family errand and side-task we must accomplish.
Through the dull thrum of our exhausted minds when we force ourselves forward.
After all of thisโ€”

The pain, the heartbreak, the endless headaches.
The toil, day in and day out.
From the moment the sun rises until it sinks below the horizon.
The question remains:

Why?

To say it is for what can be bought only reveals our materialism.
To say it is only for the money shows how short-sighted we can be.
And if we pack our labor onto a flight to the next best country,
Does it not show a disconnect from our own roots?

Instead, what if the โ€œwhyโ€ pivots to the root of hope within our hearts?
To those who have yet to march in their first graduations.
To the students who have yet to conquer their first exams.
To the children whose brightest ideas have yet to be imagined.
Even down to the families yet to be formed.

What if, for all of us, our laborโ€™s fruitโ€”
Regardless of expertise,
Regardless of how universal or unique,
No matter how insignificant it masks itself to be,
Or how monumental it may seem
Is simply the will to carry humanity forward?

The kind of toil that gives us purpose from day to day.
The work that places us on the track of our own unique success stories.
A beauty meant not just to benefit, but to cherish.

To cherish a future that has yet to be realized.
A tomorrow that is still hypothetical.
Those who have yet to draw their first masterpieces.
Take their first steps.
Laugh and cry.
Smile.

Knowing that in the end, when we finally rest,
Proud of what we have achieved in our lifetimes,
The accomplishments forged, the tears shed,
We will be remembered by those who come after us.

As the people who kept the great gears of momentum turning.
Nurturing a massive future of incomprehensible size and weight.
More imaginative than we could ever become.
More creative than we were in our own time.

The future generations.
The children, the youth.
The laborers of a better tomorrow.
Starting today. And beyond.

may pagtinging tahimik na โ€˜di mapangalanan.

Natakot akong tawaโ€™y maging pag-iwas,

Every run, pivot, and jump begins from the ground up. Before the roar of the crowd and the glare of arena lights, rubber meets hardwood. For basketball players, their playing shoes are more than just a protective gear. They are instruments of performance, symbols of personality, and a marker of their journey.

In Filipino basketball, sneakers carry the weight of dreams, passion, and purpose. They tell the stories of players who rose from humble beginnings, faced adversity, and earned their place For Kevin Quiambao, Scottie Thompson, and Calvin Abueva, their signature shoes are as much a part of their legacy.

Kevin Quiambaoโ€™s rise has been meteoric. From a rocky start in his University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) rookie season to back-to-back Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards during his playing years at De La Salle University (DLSU), he eventually established himself as one of the most promising players in Philippine basketball. Now playing as a professional for the Goyang Sono Skygunners in South Korea, Quiambao carries bigger aspirations, including dreams of reaching the National Basketball Association (NBA).

His Adidas โ€œKQ63โ€ is the brandโ€™s first-ever player edition release for a Filipino athlete. The neon pink colorway, designed by Filipino artist Juanito โ€œQuiccsโ€ Maiquez, reflects Quiambaoโ€™s vision for the next generation of Filipino hoopers. It represents optimism, creativity, and courage for the Filipino youth who dare to dream big. Quiambaoโ€™s dedication is clear in every move on the court.

The โ€œKQ63โ€ enhances his agility and versatility, making each step a message of inspiration. This shoe, born from collaboration and innovation, mirrors his journeyโ€”from playing in Filipino leagues to becoming a Finals MVP in UAAP Season 86 and now leaving his mark in his professional basketball. The shoes are a platform to remind young athletes that their potential doesn't end with dreams only, but it can take them as far as they can imagine.

Scottie Thompson is the embodiment of dedication and versatility. The 32-year-old Ginebra combo guard has built a career defined by relentless effort, shot-clock plays, and triple-double performances. His path from Digos, Davao, to becoming one of the Philippine Basketball Associationโ€™s (PBA) 50 Greatest Players reflects his discipline and dedication.

The ST3 โ€œRootsโ€, the newest colorway in his World Balance signature line, symbolizes his journey. Its black and white palette, highlighted with icy blue accents, represents his balance between passion and control, echoing the focus and composure inside the court.

All the specifications of the ST3 โ€œRootsโ€ such as the snug fit to the safety cushioning were aimed at the aggressiveness of play that Thompson would have. It honors his origin, the starting years of running exercises in the heat of the tropical sun, and the sacrifice that drove him to college and professional basketball. It is not just a shoe, it is a source of inspiration to the young Filipino athletes who are also making their own steps in the sport. The ST3 โ€œRootsโ€ proves that hard work and persistence can transform the initial challenges into long-term success.

Calvin Abueva, also known as โ€œThe Beastโ€, has defined intensity in Filipino Basketball. Now at the twilight of his playing year in PBA for Titan Ultra Giant Risers as the power forward, he remains a symbol of energy, positional versatility, and commanding presence on the court. Over the years, he has led multiple teams, gained MVP honors, and drawn crowds with a fearless, all-around style that leaves a mark to his supporters.

His signature shoe, โ€œThe Beastโ€ by PEAK that captures both his persona and his becoming. The shoe is designed in the magnolia blue and comes in the extended sizes, which suits his physical style and a testament to the decades of hustle, rebounds, drives and determination that defined his career. It is a tribute to the persistence of Abueva, who lets players know that success is hard work and grit as much as it is talent.

The shoe also celebrates his personal life story such as the embarrassing moments of finding the right shoes due to his large foot size. Each step in โ€œThe Beastโ€ is a fight to overcome restrictions, thriftiness to make the unimaginable work, and a leave behind to the successive generation of athletes that dream to play with heart and passion.

Kevin Quiambao, Scottie Thompson, and Calvin Abueva stand at different points in a basketball journey โ€” one chasing greater heights, one thriving in his prime, and one has already shaped his legacy. Yet they are bound by the same hardwood and the same quiet companion beneath their feet. The โ€œKQ63โ€ speaks to possibility, the ST3 โ€œRootsโ€ of reliability and purpose, and โ€œThe Beastโ€ of a career built by physicality and presence.

Together, their signature pairs demonstrate how a footwear has become such a part of a player that it extends well beyond its design and into the meaning of its owner. With all the actions of a sport measured and all the choices tested, shoes become silent partners of action and developments. Filipino basketball, through the characters of Kevin, Scottie and Calvin, is not viewed as one story, but rather as a series, taken forward one step at a time.

The Holy Angel University Communicatorsโ€™ League (HAU-CL) spearheaded IntFILM Shorts, a student film showcase and talk, at the Peter G. Nepomuceno (PGN) Auditorium on April 15.

The event featured the final film projects of third-year Communication students, aiming to bridge gaps in the local student film scene through a formal platform for academic outputs that often go unseen.

In an interview, the event organizers emphasized that the showcase was long overdue.

โ€œโ€ฆevery single year, meron tayong ginagawa na films, โ€˜yung mga students, pero walang avenue for us to showcase it.โ€

They also highlighted the bold and unconventional nature of this yearโ€™s selection, including films such as Ang Natatanging Gay Virgin ng Bagong Henerasyon, which underwent rigorous internal regulations to ensure it met institutional standards.

Dr. Alfredo Santos, Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, emphasized the power of student voices in his opening remarks. Mr. Doods Maglaqui, the IntFilm Advise adviser, then followed with an inspirational message.

Meanwhile, film and TV producer Mr. Omas Sortijas discussed the current realities of the Philippine media industry, offering students a grounded perspective on the field they are entering.

A highlight of the screening was the film Bukasโ€ฆSiguro?, produced by Veinte Productions of 24-25 IntFilm BA 301 Team 1, following a story of class struggle and sacrifice of passion for practicality and romance.

The event also drew attendees from various regional institutions, including students from System Plus College Foundation (SPCF), Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU), National University (NU) - Clark, Angeles University Foundation (AUF), and University of the Philippines (UP) - Clark.

A first-year Communication student shared her experience and insights on the initiative, acknowledging the challenges of filmmaking.

โ€œIt gave me background to how challenging it is to produce a film. Producing a film is not easy, it has a lot of obstacles, from the production to the actual ex*****on. And what will stay with me would be their tips on how to manage the entire production of the film effectively, and how to not let the obstacles influence the story or the intention behind the film.โ€

Moreover, on April 21, the student producers have secured a permit to exhibit their produced films and are set to premiere their works at Marquee Mall Cinemas on April 30.

IntFILM Shorts 2026 served as a precursor to a fundraising event at the same venue, intended to establish a seed fund to support production costs of future student film projects.

Have you ever used facial recognition on your phone before? Or maybe youโ€™ve seen the GPS navigation used by Grab drivers. It seems normal to find them using it to navigate through the city streets when you need a ride home from somewhere. It seems tolerable, understandable, convenient even. It makes our lives easier.

Even as students ourselves, weโ€™ve all most likely indulged in it one way or another. Itโ€™s made at least one thing convenient for us at some point. Technology has been increasingly used in almost everything nowadays, taking over simple tasks that many often seem to overlook. So what happens when it starts taking over simple tasks that are actually quite essential for human occupancy?

What happens now when we leave the chaotic comfort of college and enter the reality of being working adults, and we simply find that mere entry-level jobs that can give us a start, end up being occupied or unavailable already โ€“ by artificial intelligence.

Accountancy students are quite literally being trained to become specialized intelligent calculators that understand the human economy from a human perspective. Simple math is a foundation for such knowledge, but itโ€™s not all that is used. In fact, human logic and cognition, and abstract reasoning are the cores of such careers, to put it simply.

However, slowly but surely, as artificial intelligence continues to become more refined, it starts to invade more industries as authorities in higher places start to think. โ€œHow can we cut some of our losses? How can we gain more convenience? How can we find more manpower with a lower budget?โ€

And so, the people sitting on luxurious seats on top of skyscraper towers turn their faces towards intelligence that offers the answer to all those questions. Artificial intelligence can possibly automate bookkeeping, as long as someone with the appropriate knowledge can configure it to. It can probably assist audit procedures without human error, and can do so around the clock. But what then?

As the people with higher power in society smile at the choices theyโ€™ve made, the ones at the bottom of the economic food chain are now left pondering. The older generation, who seemingly regress to being children in the face of technology, are left confused by the use of AI. The younger generation isnโ€™t exactly children, but is being faced with a new challenge and a new question.

A plethora of questions, in fact. What can AI not do? Can it really do everything we want as long as weโ€™re able to program it accordingly? But then, if it can do everything, what can we do as people? How can we, as college students, be able to start our careers in entry-level jobs once we step into the reality of economic survival? What can we use AI for that doesnโ€™t sacrifice a personโ€™s position in careers?

All of these questions are aching dilemmas that we want to ask whoever would be able to answer them. But unfortunately, there doesnโ€™t seem to be a specific individual or group of people who even hold these answers. So as of now, all we can do is ask ourselves and pray that maybe an answer can come from someone โ€“ maybe even from the artificial intelligence thatโ€™s unironically โ€œtaking our jobs.โ€

As the years unfold,
the colors of our lives shift with the seasons.

Childhood glows in yellow
sunlight spilling through the branches
where we built kingdoms of leaves and laughter
The days were light, soft as morning honey on our small hands.

Adolescence burns in red,
a full stop at every crossroads,
our hearts aflame with untested passions,
searching for ourselves in every reflection
In the shout and whisper of the world.

Adulthood sinks into blue
we fall into the pit of sadness,
shadows stretching long across our waking hours.
Yet in the depths, our reflection sharpens,
and slowly, we learn the shapes of who we are.

Through all these colors,
purple flickers in moments of quiet courage,
hope folding softly into resilience,
a whisper that the spectrum is never complete.

Life is a film in technicolor
each frame alive,
never dull, never black and white.
The season may change,
but even in storms and shadows,
the colors persist, brightening as they flow
from one hue into the next,
painting a world that always dares to shine.
