When I look back at my 20s, I realize the greatest returns didn't always come from the investments that made me money.
They came from the investments that changed me:
1. I invested in knowledge.
I bought books, attended seminars, enrolled in courses, and learned from people who were ahead of me. Knowledge has one of the highest returns because no one can ever take it away.
2. I invested in my network.
I intentionally built relationships with mentors, colleagues, clients, and friends who challenged me to grow. Looking back, many of the opportunities I have today came because of these people.
3. I invested in my communication skills.
I joined Toastmasters to become a better speaker and communicator. It turned out that knowing what to say is one thing, but knowing how to say it opens even more doors.
4. I invested in my faith.
I became part of The Feast community and intentionally grew my relationship with the Lord. This investment kept me grounded, especially during seasons of uncertainty and major life transitions.
5. I invested in experiences.
I traveled, tried new things, celebrated milestones, and created memories with the people I love. These experiences shaped my perspective in ways money never could.
6. I invested in my career.
I left my 8-to-5 job, took risks, accepted challenges, and kept showing up even when I didn't feel ready. Every experience became part of the foundation I'm still building today.
7. I invested in financial protection.
I built my safety net through insurance and emergency funds, not because I expected the worst, but because I wanted to be prepared for life's uncertainties.
My biggest realization?
The best investments I started in my 20s weren't always the ones that increased my net worth.
They were the ones that increased my capacity.
They made me wiser.
They made me more resilient.
They strengthened my faith.
They expanded my perspective.
They introduced me to incredible people.
They prepared me for the opportunities I haven't even imagined.
And now I'm certain that the greatest returns from these investments are still ahead of me. 🥳
