Quick honesty check, no calculator allowed: do you know — roughly — how much your household spends in a month?

Not the budget you planned. The actual number.

I've asked this question across the table more times than I can count, and here's the pattern: most people know their income to the peso, pero the spending side is a guess. Usually a confident guess. Usually low.

No need to post the amount — just tell me honestly: do you know your number, or would you be guessing too? 🙈

What's a money lesson you got from your parents that you still follow today — even if you're not sure it's actually good advice?

Mine heard growing up: "kapag may extra, itago mo." Save first, questions later. Solid instinct — pero nobody ever explained where to put it, or why it kept losing to prices going up every year.

A lot of what we do with money today, we inherited na lang without checking. Some of it still works. Some of it never did.

What's yours? Drop it below — the advice, and whether you still follow it.

Something I noticed after years of sitting across from people about their money: three people with the exact same salary can need three completely different plans.

One's supporting parents. One's about to have a kid. One's five years from paying off the house. Same income, same job level — none of that tells you what they actually need.

That's the part that never sat right with me about selling a fixed set of products. The product doesn't know your situation. It just knows what it's supposed to sell.

What's one money decision that felt "standard advice" but didn't actually fit your situation? Genuinely curious talaga what you've run into.

Real talk: how many of you have an insurance policy sitting in a drawer somewhere and couldn't tell me what it actually covers if I asked right now?

No judgment — I sold policies for years, kasi I've seen how it happens. Someone explains it once, you sign, life moves on. Five years later you're paying for something you can't fully explain to your own spouse.

I spent almost ten years in insurance. What pulled at me most was never the selling — it was the planning behind it.

I started in 2014, part-time, while building a career in IT. To get good at it, I studied — I earned my Registered Financial Planner (RFP®) accreditation and went deeper into wealth and estate planning along the way. That study changed how I saw money. It showed me how wide the gap can be between what people already have and what they actually need — and closing that gap became the part I cared about most.

Selling is a real skill, and a needed one. Good agents help people actually take action instead of putting it off another year, and I respect that work — I did it, and I built and led teams who did it well. It just was never where my passion was. Mine was the analysis: sitting with someone, running the real numbers, and telling them the truth about where they stand.

So I made the choice to step back from selling and focus on exactly that — the analysis. Not because selling is lesser, but because that's where my head naturally goes, and I wanted to spend my time there. No insurer behind me, no product I need you to pick — just a straight, honest look at your numbers.

To those of you who've followed this page for years: hi. I'm still here. I just needed to strip this back to the part that was always worth doing.

So let me start there — what's one money question you've always wanted a straight, honest answer to? Drop it below. I read every one.

Educational only, not financial advice — your numbers and situation are yours.
