I don’t know who needs to here this, pero eto na ngaaa.

Syempre we all want our friends and family to have a very merry Christmas through our gift giving. Pero at what cost? 🤔

Kung di keri ng budget natin, and if we want a less gift-focused Christmas, we ALWAYS have a choice to go easy on our wallets. After all, ayaw naman natin na ang sasalubong satin in 2022 ay katakot takot na credit card bills, amirite? 💥

Here are some ideas to buying fewer gifts this year:

1️⃣ Do a gift exchange
2️⃣ Gift an experience
3️⃣ Do something charitable

Stop saying “I’m broke” or “di ko afford” and change the way you approach money.

Instead of having a scarcity mindset around all the things we can’t or shouldn’t buy right now, let’s change our thinking.

What having an abundance mindset means is focusing on what we can afford and letting ourselves enjoy the fruits of our labors. 😌

Make the most of your latest paycheck by creating a budget that’s simple to implement and easy to stick to.

I personally go by this 60/20/20 rule since putting needs before wants help me build structure into my budget. Simply split your net income into 3 categories:

🏡 60% goes to monthly living expenses, like bahay or rent, groceries, judith, transpo and healthcare. Dito din pasok yung mga monthly minimums you owe for insurance, credit card balances or loan repayments.

💰 20% is dedicated to savings. Pwedeng money you put into an emergency fund, investments, or retirement account.

🛍 20% goes to things you want but could live without, aka *fun funds*. Depending sa lifestyle mo, dito pasok ang (impulsive) shopping, eating out, travel, subscriptions, and hobbies or passion projects.

You see, friends, budgeting does not have to mean deprivation! You can and YOU SHOULD set aside a portion of your money for things that keep you happy.

Ang idea lang is to find a way to maximize your money that meets your financial and emotional needs. It’s trial and error until you figure out which budgeting system works best for you!

And while our hearts may be ready for this season of love, family, and most of all giving, our wallets may not be as prepared. 👀

Chaching here, kaskas there dahil sa true naman, it’s easy to go overboard on holiday shopping especially when we feel like we need to make it up to our loved ones after another socially distanced year. But with a little planning and budgeting - just as long as we stick to our spending limits - we're good and can be guilt-free. 😌

Kahit feel natin we have little to celebrate this year, we can — and should — practice gratitude.

It could be as simple as a mindset shift from “I have to pay the bills” to “I get to pay the bills” that gets our focus away from the negatives, and reminds us how blessed we are still.

I am grateful for morning coffee, electricity, a wifi connection, the gas in our tank, the few thousands in our bank, and other basic conveniences we sometimes take for granted.

I’m grateful for a husband capable of providing, a child who loves learning, our small family business that’s thriving, the pause this year has allowed, and this tiny space on the internet where I get to educate and inspire (I hope!) dreamers and goal-getters like you. 🤗

Di naman kailangan lagi na may ganap bago tayo magpasalamat. Madalas it’s just knowing that at this moment, all you have is all you need. 💗
