Planting today for a greener and more sustainable tomorrow!

The P&A Grant Thornton Cebu office conducted a meaningful mangrove-planting activity at Sitio Bantigue, Barangay Luyang, Carmen, Cebu, as part of the Firm’s commitment to environmental sustainability and community involvement.

Anchored on the theme “P&Ag-agak: Embracing Our Mission Towards Sustainability,” the initiative was conducted in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Cebu and the People’s Organization of Barangay Guinsay, Danao City, Cebu. The activity aimed to contribute to ecological restoration and sustainable development while encouraging collective action in response to growing environmental concerns.

P&A Grant Thornton proudly supported the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants Metro Manila Region (PICPA MMR) 2026 Tax Conference. Held from 16 to 17 September 2026 at the Grand Ballroom of Century Park Hotel Manila, the two-day conference brought together accounting and tax professionals for timely discussions under the theme “Beyond Compliance: Tax Strategy, Governance, and Growth.”

Purple Tribe leader Atty. Lea Roque, Principal for Tax Advisory & Compliance, delivered an insightful session titled “Taxation of Digital Services in the Philippines: Navigating the New Rules for Digital Service Providers.” She discussed the evolving tax landscape for digital services and highlighted key rules and considerations that digital service providers must understand to navigate their obligations in the Philippines.

Heads up! ⚡

A recent BIR clarification could offer a slight reduction in consumers' total electricity bill.

BIR Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 097-2026 confirms that allowable system loss charges are not subject to VAT, provided these charges are separately shown on the bill.

As a result, consumers can benefit from a clearer breakdown of charges and potentially lower the VAT amount you're paying for.

A celebration of volunteerism, environmental responsibility, and our collective commitment to a more sustainable future!

On September 16, 2026, 210 volunteers from the Makati Head Office came together at the Las Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park for the GT Coastal Clean-Up Drive 2026, demonstrating how collective action can create meaningful and lasting impact.

Organized by P&A Foundation, Inc. through its CSR arm, P&A for a Cause (P&Ause), in partnership with the Punongbayan & Araullo Credit Cooperative (PACC), the activity brought together P&Aers united by a common goal: protecting the environment and contributing to a more sustainable future.

The event was graced by the presence of Purple Tribe leaders Atty. Vier Aznar, Wowie Roguel, and Yusoph Maute, whose support underscored the Firm's commitment to sustainability, community engagement, and volunteerism.

Through the dedication and teamwork of our volunteers, a total of 1,625.10 kilograms of waste was collected from the coastal area, surpassing the previous year's total collection. The initiative reinforced P&Ause's commitment to SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, one of our core priority SDGs, while also contributing to SDG 13: Climate Action and SDG 14: Life Below Water through environmental conservation and waste reduction efforts.

Equipping future professionals with practical insights beyond the classroom!

P&A Grant Thornton shared practical insights with interns of the University of Mindanao College of Accounting Education during a seminar on SEC and BIR Compliance and Filing Procedures, held on 12 September 2026 at the University of Mindanao Main Bolton Gym. The session helped participants deepen their understanding of regulatory requirements, filing procedures, and compliance practices relevant to their future careers in accounting.

Khen Sarong, Senior Manager for Audit & Assurance, discussed key SEC regulatory developments, reporting requirements, and compliance updates. His presentation underscored the importance of keeping pace with evolving regulations and maintaining sound compliance practices.

Representing Tax Advisory & Compliance, Kyla Dongiapon, Tax Compliance Senior, and Loren Baldonado, Tax Compliance Associate II, provided an overview of BIR tax applications, procedural updates, and practical compliance considerations. Their discussion helped participants better understand tax-related processes and how compliance requirements are applied in practice.
