Yesterday, September 4, at The Manila Hotel, we witnessed a proud moment for the accounting profession as Dr. Estelita C. Aguirre was recognized as one of the Outstanding Professionals of the Year 2026 under the Business, Education, and Social Cluster – Accountancy.

It was truly inspiring to see fellow PICPA members come together to show their support and celebrate this well-deserved recognition. Dr. Aguirre’s achievement is not only a personal milestone but also a testament to the excellence, dedication, and integrity that our profession stands for.

From Inspection to Improvement: Turning Insights into Better Practice

Despite the challenges brought by the habagat, PICPA SMMC successfully concluded its two-day seminar, “From Inspection to Improvement: Lessons from Experience: SOQM and Engagement Documentation,” held on August 28–29, 2026.

The seminar served as a valuable platform for learning, knowledge-sharing, and professional development, equipping participants with practical insights on strengthening System of Quality Management (SOQM) implementation and enhancing engagement documentation practices. The active participation and enthusiasm of our attendees truly contributed to the success of this event.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our QAR Resource Speaker, SMMC Board Director Alberto Benitez, for generously sharing his firsthand QAR inspection experiences, lessons learned, and practical guidance that will help practitioners continuously improve audit quality.
