"I’ve been silent for quite a while since my father was admitted to a government hospital. But what happened to him now is something I cannot stay silent about anymore. My father has Chronic Kidney Disease Stage V, and seeing him in such a critical condition, sitting in a wheelchair for hours, is one of the most painful I have ever experienced. From morning until midnight, my father who was already in a critical condition was left sitting in a wheelchair because there was no available bed or room. We understood that the ER was full, but how can a patient in his condition wait for hours without proper attention or even pain relief? Tapos labay labayan kalang?!! Around 9 PM, we signed a waiver to discharge him because there was still no bed for him. But we were only able to leave around 2 AM because we had to wait for the paperwork. Now, my father is in a critical stage. This is not for fame. This is not for sympathy. This is not about attacking every healthcare worker. We know many of them are doing their best. But this is a reminder. Poor people deserve proper healthcare too. Critical patients deserve attention. Every patient deserves dignity and care, regardless of how much money they have. I hope this experience reminds all of us to choose leaders and a government that will look after ordinary people, especially those who cannot afford private hospitals. My father deserves care. Every patient deserves care. And no family should have to go through what we went through."
