Some conversations remind you why you do what you do. ❤️
Yesterday, I received a message from a client from Mandaue City asking about an educational plan.
As usual, I asked the usual questions—who the plan is for, when they need the funds, what the goal is, etc. Then I asked if she had some spare time because I thought it would be better if we could talk online.
Luckily, she said yes. So we had a quick Messenger call.
As we talked, she shared something that honestly made me feel a little sad. She had previously gotten a plan from another company because she thought it was an educational plan for her child, who will be starting Dentistry next year.
But during our conversation, she realized that the plan she had was actually a VUL, and that she could withdraw from it—but it wasn't specifically an educational plan designed to provide the funds she was expecting for her child's studies.
She told me she didn't fully understand what she had purchased before. She simply thought it would be there when her child needed it.
And instead of offering her another plan, I told her honestly:
“Since your goal is to prepare for your child's college expenses, let's look at other ways you can start saving.” - not for her college student but for her youngest child who is 10.
We talked about different options she could explore—MP2, high-yield digital banks, cooperatives, and other savings vehicles that may help her build a college fund for her youngest child.
Her response really made my day:
“Ma'am, salamat. Ngayon nalinawan ako, and nabigyan mo ako ng mga pwedeng gawin para makapag-save.” ❤️
And that's when I realized again...
Not every client conversation has to end with a sale.
Sometimes, the best thing you can give a client is clarity and honest advice. Thank you Mam Joane for the warm conversation.
