I don’t have a rags-to-riches story because I have always been an entrepreneur. But most entrepreneurs start somewhere or start small. They also get highs and lows. That’s certainly was the same for me.
When badminton was a hit a couple of decades ago, my sports products trading business was thriving. But when the fad started to fade so was my business. At its peak, we had 17 branches across the country, now we are struggling to even keep half in operation.
This discouraging moment in my business has opened my self to possibilities that I didn’t even know I could do in the beginning. Like most of you, I reluctantly met with someone who was offering me insurance. It took a few minutes and an open mind to learn more about financial security and an interest in trying out to be a financial advisor. I saw it as a side hustle, and I tried it out.
Three years later, I got recognition I’ve never received in my years as an entrepreneur — MDRT, COT: Court of the Table, Top Rookie, Top Advisor, etc. — these letters might not mean anything to anyone who is not in the Financial Advising business but they mean SUCCESS built on TRUST. It means I have clients who trust me to help them secure their future and grow their finances. I work harder and I get what I work harder for.
