ALL FILIPINO YUPPIES/YOUTH & OFWs
Do u know some of the reasons why Filipinos are POOR?
Some of us can answer it but some of us often asks WHY?, and some does not really know the definite answer.
Some says it's because of the corrupt government & others would say because of the natural procrastinating populace. But for me this is my exact nor definite answer.....
It's lack of Filipino's FINANCIAL LITERACY.
Partly there are some shortcomings w/ the country's education system but as a reasonable & responsible individual we should take it upon ourselves whatever the system cannot give us.
Unfortunately, Filipinos who happens to be in these situations were unable to realize that what they have as habits or what they were unable to do were the cause of them being poor.
These are some examples of how our society pulling themselves into poverty:
THE FILIPINO YUPPIES:
The yuppies or young urban professionals compose of people who works in our urban areas, they enjoy good pays & perks from their companies & are considered to have brighter future than the rest of the youth.
How do they spend their money? At least majority of them can be described as young professionals dressed in nice clothes, sporting the latest gadgets & are likely to be partying regularly.
They have TERRIBLE SPENDING HABITS.
Since they are likely to own several credit cards, they also have mounting debt in each of it. Owing several thousand of pesos & having debts more than they could pay for. In other words, most of our youth nowadays are taga-LONDON as in "LOaN dito, LOaN DON...what a habit...he he.
Ask them if they have savings or investments, majority will likely to say yes for the savings but for investment, majority would be unfamiliar w/ it. Most of them invest their money in gadgets, or like this...."May IPHONE ka nga....May IPON ka ba"....poor Filipino youth....tsssskkk, tsssskkk.
THE FILIPINO OVERSEAS WORKERS (OFWs):
It's a painful reality that most of our OFW's does not know how to handle their finances. It shows w/ some of the studies by financial institutions w/c tracks the spending & money habits of our OFWs.
According to an article w/c was written in 2009 on how OFW families spend their remittance money, only 40% of OFWs allotted their earnings into various financial instruments, of w/c only 3% actually invested in stocks, bonds or insurance.
What do these figures have to say about our OFWs, only a small percentage of them knows that power of investing in enhancing the quality of their life & it's ability to FREE them from working overseas for the rest of their lives.
In actuality only a small portion are saving & investing in preparation for their retirement, & when it's time for them to retire & go home, they end up BROKE because they have not prepared for it.
