Ang Kaiser ba ay VUL?

Ito ang isa sa pinaka-common na tanong na natatanggap ko.

At understandable naman bakit nalilito ang iba.

Kasi kapag very rough description lang ang tiningnan:

• VUL = life insurance + investment
• Kaiser Ultimate = healthcare + life insurance + investment

Mukhang magkapareho.

Pero kapag inintindi mo na ang actual purpose at structure nila, makikita mo na:

👉 Magkaibang-magkaiba talaga sila.

Ang VUL ay primarily:
✅ Life insurance solution
na may investment component

Ang Kaiser Ultimate ay primarily:
✅ Long-term healthcare solution
na may life insurance at investment component

Kaya nga ang Kaiser ay offered ng HMO company, hindi life insurance company.

At dito nagsisimula ang malaking difference.

Sa Kaiser Ultimate:
✅ “Pay 7 years” means
7 years ka lang talaga magbabayad, then fully paid na.

May Certificate of Full Payment pa.

Sa maraming VUL:
⚠️ “Pay 10 years” usually means projected payment period lang.

Depende pa rin sa performance ng fund at insurance charges kung sapat na. Posibleng kailangan pa maghulog later.

Sa Kaiser:
✅ guaranteed ang healthcare component
✅ guaranteed ang contract benefits
✅ guaranteed may health fund after full payment
✅ guaranteed fixed contract price
✅ guaranteed wala nang insurance charges after payment period

Sa VUL:
⚠️ investment performance is not guaranteed
⚠️ may tuloy-tuloy na insurance charges
⚠️ pwedeng lumiit o maubos ang fund value kapag mahina ang performance

Pero ang pinaka-importanteng difference ay ito:

🏥 Ang healthcare plan ay designed gamitin habang buhay ka pa.

🛡️ Ang life insurance plan ay designed mainly para sa maiiwan mong pamilya kapag may nangyari sa iyo.

Magkaiba sila ng purpose.

At dito nagiging very practical ang difference.

Kapag may medical emergency, ang healthcare plan tulad ng Kaiser ay designed para tumulong sa hospital admission at medical expenses.

Sa maraming cases, accredited hospitals can admit qualified members using healthcare coverage.

Samantalang ang life insurance — kahit pa malaki ang coverage o may investment component — is not designed to function as immediate hospital admission support.

Kahit may malaking VUL, malaking insurance coverage, o malaking pera sa bangko ang isang tao, maraming hospitals ang hihingi pa rin ng actual cash deposit bago mag-admit.

Kaya maraming Pilipino ang nalilito kapag iniisip nilang pareho lang ang healthcare at life insurance.

Hindi porke parehong may “investment”…
pareho na.

Parehong may purpose.
Parehong may tamang market.
Parehong may pwedeng maitulong sa tao.

Pero magkaiba sila.

Kung mas priority mo ang benefits habang buhay ka pa — especially healthcare — mas bagay unahin ang healthcare solution.

Kung mas priority mo ang malaking benefit para sa maiiwan mong pamilya kapag may nangyari sa iyo, mas bagay unahin ang life insurance.

Ang healthcare protects you habang buhay ka pa.
Ang life insurance protects the people you leave behind.

Kaya bago kumuha ng kahit anong financial product:
❌ Huwag lang tumingin sa projected earnings
❌ Huwag lang tumingin sa sales pitch

✅ Intindihin ang risks
✅ Intindihin kung para saan talaga siya

Kasi ang pinakamahal na financial mistake…
ay bumili ng product na hindi pala tugma sa kailangan mo.

Maski hindi natin pakialaman ang gyera sa Iran, o impeachment.
Pag-usapan natin at sabihin sa ating government officials ang ating kailangan, like pababain ang halaga ng gamot.

* bawasan ang kain sa labas (magbaon)
* bawasan ang Starbucks at bottled water ( magbaon ng tubig )
* bawasan ang short walkable rides (mag-exerise)
* bawasan ang video calls (mas matipid ang audio calls)

hindi naman rocket science ang pag-titipid.
Pero on a national level, sabihin sa ating government leaders: work to make our medicines more affordable!

What if you have a Kaiser plan and you die too soon?

Ang balak natin sa long term healticare ay long term healthcare, i enjoy ang healthcare many years later, siguro in retirement, para happy and healthy tayo in old age.

pero kung may insurance benefits, sa unang hulog pa lang, insured na!

halimbawa (knock on wood), pagkakuha ng plan,nisang hulog pa lang, nasagasaan ng tricycle, namatay!

1. term insurance.
May makukuhang death benefits si beneficiaries. sa K100, ito ay P450,000.

2. Accident Insurance.
May makukuhang accidental death benefits si beneficiaries. sa K100, ito ay ADDITIONAL na P450,000.

3. Waiver of premium due to death.
ang health plan ay magiging fully paid, maski isang hulog pa lang. Ito ay ililipat sa primary beneficiary para siya ang mah enjoy ng healthcare at investment benefits.

kaya maski kunin ka ni Lord ng maaga, ma enjoy pa rin ng naiwang pamilya ang benefits ng plan mo.

ang insurance protection na ito ay para sa buong 20 years na 7 years accumulation period plus 13 years na extended care period.

AT HUWAG KALIMUTAN:
ang plan na lapsed (pag hindi nagbabayad within the grace period), ay walang benefits, kaya iwasan mag lapse ang plan;

Kulang ang iyong Kaiser Plan?

Kung kulang ang plan, medyo maliit, maari mong bilisan ang pagbabayad tapos kumuha ng additional plan.

Halimbawa ang plan mo K50, tapos na realize mo na dapat K100.

Maari mong bilisan ang pagbabayad ng iyong K50, tapusin in 3.5 years instead na 7 years.

Pagkatapos ng 3.5 years pag fully paid ka na sa unang K50, kumuha ka ng ikalawang K50.

Ang financial effect noon ay pareho ng K100, except mas mahaba ang accumulation period (magigng 10.5 years , kasi isang benefits ng isang plan sa first and last 3.5 years, at benefits ng 2 plan sa middle 3.5 years)
