Advisory from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)
Pursuant to Bank Bulletin No. 2026-01, the BIR has mandated all Authorized Agent Banks (AABs) to extend their services to accommodate taxpayers.
Key Schedule Updates for Taxpayers:

β€’ Saturday Banking Operations: To facilitate tax payments, AABs will be open on March 28, 2026, and April 11, 2026.

β€’ Black Saturday Notice: Please be advised that banks will remain closed on April 4, 2026, in observance of Black Saturday.

β€’ Extended Daily Hours: From April 1 to April 15, 2026, AABs will extend their banking hours until 5:00 PM

β€’ Payment Validation: While payments made on Saturdays will be reported as collections on the following working day, the machine validation on your deposit slip will reflect the actual date of payment.

We encourage everyone to plan their filings ahead of time to avoid the peak period rush.

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding tax filings, please feel free to reach out to us.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has released Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 4, s. 2026, amending the audit requirements for corporations to ease the regulatory burden on smaller businesses.

Key Takeaways

πŸ‘‰ New Audit Threshold: Only stock and non-stock corporations with total assets or total liabilities exceeding Three Million Pesos (β‚±3,000,000) are now required to file audited financial statements.

πŸ‘‰ Audit Exemption: Corporations with assets or liabilities at or below the β‚±3,000,000 threshold are no longer required to submit audited financial statements.

πŸ‘‰ New Filing Requirement: Exempt corporations must instead submit unaudited financial statements accompanied by a Statement of Management's Responsibility (SMR) signed under oath.

πŸ‘‰ Authorized Signatories: For standard corporations, the SMR must be signed by the Chairman of the Board, the President or CEO, and the Treasurer or CFO. For One-Person Corporations (OPCs), the SMR must be signed by the President and the Treasurer.

πŸ‘‰ Signatory Accountability: Those signing the SMR assume full responsibility for the accuracy and truthfulness of the financial statements.

πŸ‘‰ Applicability: The new threshold applies to financial statements for fiscal years ending on or after December 31, 2025.

πŸ‘‰ Public Interest Entities (PIEs): The audit exemption threshold does not apply to PIEs, entities classified under Group A, B, or C, or those determined to be vested with public interest. These specific entities must still provide audited financial statements regardless of their total asset or liability size.

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has recently issued Revenue Memorandum Circular (RMC) No. 34-2025 regarding the guidelines in the filing of Annual Income Tax Returns (AITR) and Payment of Taxes Due Thereon for Calendar Year 2024.

πŸ‘‰ The filing of the AITR for Calendar Year 2024 shall be done electronically (eFPS, eBIRForms, or Tax Software Providers).

πŸ‘‰ Manual filing shall only be allowed to the following: BIR Form 1701-MS for individual business taxpayers classified as micro and small taxpayers, when there is a BIR-issued advisory on the unavailability of the said systems, or when there is a justifiable reason as may be determined by the Commissioner of Internal Revenue or his authorized representative.

πŸ‘‰ Required attachments to the AITR shall be submitted within 15 days from the deadline of filing of return (or if late filing, within 15 days of filing) via online submission through eAFS.

πŸ‘‰ Since AITRs will be filed electronically, there is no need to have it stamped "Received". The Filing Reference Number (FRN) or the Tax Return Receipt Confirmation (TRRC) shall serve as proof of filing.

πŸ‘‰ The eAFS generated Transaction Reference Number (TRN)/Confirmation Receipt shall serve as proof of submission of attachments to the AITR.

πŸ‘‰ Companies/corporations which filed their AFS through eAFS shall attach the system-generated TRN/Confirmation Receipt issued by the BIR, in lieu of the manual "Received" stamp per SEC MC No. 1, s. 2025.

πŸ‘‰ Manual submission of attachments shall only be allowed in case of system unavailability with a duly released advisory.

Attachments shall be stamped only on the following pages: Audit Opinion/Certificate, Balance Sheet/Statement of Financial Position, and the Income Statement/Statement of Comprehensive Income.
