I used to think travel was just an expense.

Now, I understand that it can also be an education.

Early in my career, I was blessed with opportunities to visit different places—especially outside the country. But back then, I valued the money more than the experience.

That mindset didn’t come from nowhere.

Growing up, we didn’t have much. When you’ve spent years thinking about everything money could solve, choosing an experience can feel impractical.

I used to ask, “What will I really gain from traveling?”

As I grew, the answer became clearer: exposure.

New environments introduce you to different ways of living, working, and dreaming. They expand your view of what’s possible—and sometimes, that is exactly what you need to imagine a bigger life for yourself.

Where we grew up may explain how we think, but it should never dictate where we are headed.

Our past can either become our ceiling or our fuel.

Do I have regrets about the opportunities I didn’t fully appreciate? Definitely. But those regrets also gave me lessons I may not have learned any other way.

I don’t blame the younger version of myself. He was simply making decisions based on the world he knew.

But now, I know better.

And I’m looking forward to becoming a version of myself who chooses not only what makes sense today, but also what can transform who I become tomorrow.
