Noong nakaraang taon Abril 15 — deadline ng Annual ITR.

Sabi niya: "Bukas na lang. Maaga pa."

Abril 16. "Bukas na lang ulit."

Abril 17. May nangyari sa pamilya. Nakalimutan.

Isang buwan ang lumipas.

Nang pumunta siya sa BIR para mag-file — sinabihan siya:

25% surcharge ng tax due.
20% interest per annum.
₱1,000 compromise penalty.

Para sa isang late filing lang.

Ang BIR ay walang "nakalimutan" na dahilan.

Pero mayroon kang pagpipilian ngayon — mag-set ng reminders. I-automate ang filing. Humingi ng tulong.

Mas mura ang accountant kaysa sa penalty. 💸

Isang araw, dumating sa opisina ng kaibigan ko ang isang sulat mula sa BIR.

Hindi niya ito binuksan agad — akala niya, basta letter lang.

Nang buksan niya... ₱320,000 ang nakasulat.

Surcharge. Interest. Compromise penalty.

Lahat dahil hindi niya na-file ang ITR niya ng tatlong taon.

Hindi siya masamang tao. Busy lang. Nalimutan lang.

Pero ang BIR? Hindi nagpapatawad sa "nalimutan."

Huwag hayaang mangyari sa'yo ito.
