The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has launched a broad new audit campaign aiming to expand Pakistan’s tax net — targeting high-fee doctors, luxury beauty parlours, and aesthetic clinics in major cities. In the first phase, 250 top-earning doctors (100 in Karachi, 100 in Lahore, 50 in Islamabad) will face scrutiny. FBR has already collected detailed data on business locations, branding, and operations of these services.
Beyond medical professionals, the drive will also assess the paint and cosmetic sectors for possible tax evasion. To carry out the audits, FBR has hired 600 private auditors, with plans to scale up to 2,000 — signaling a major push toward digital, confidential audits and stronger enforcement. This campaign reflects a determined effort to bring high-income professionals and luxury services under tax compliance.
