BYD’s $150 million EV assembly plant in Gharo, Sindh is nearing completion.

The facility is in its final stages of equipment installation and testing and is expected to produce locally assembled New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) once operational.

Key details:
* Investment: $150 million (approx. Rs. 41.76 billion)
* Annual production capacity: 25,000 vehicles
* First locally assembled BYD vehicle expected after commissioning
* 2,000+ CBU units already imported to support initial demand
* 19 DC fast chargers installed from Karachi to Peshawar

BYD, along with HUBCO Green Private Limited, aims to strengthen EV infrastructure in Pakistan while promoting lower running costs compared to traditional petrol vehicles.

The plant’s launch could mark a major step toward local EV production and wider adoption of electric vehicles in Pakistan.
