The preparation work that you do before you invest is way more important than its performance after you've invested.

𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗖𝗛

When investment pitches are offered to you, the content usually provides an overview of the investment idea, some reasons that justify the upside, and the kind of returns you can possibly get.

The devil is in the details, and you want your decisions to be supported by facts. Don't ever invest in things you don't fully understand. Speak to a neutral expert for a 2nd opinion if required.

𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗 𝗕𝗘𝗧𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗦

Listen to the investment story and more importantly, pay careful attention to what is NOT be said. This may sound difficult, but it gets easier after you hear a dozen different investment pitches.

What is not said is more important than what is said, and clarify where needed.

𝗥𝗘𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗗 𝗥𝗘𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗡𝗦

I've seen people who spend a lot of time and money to select stocks and get single-digit returns over time. If that is the kind of returns you are getting, it might be easier to just get a typical hands-off fund that can probably perform better.

If you are putting in hours of research work, it's only right that you get rewarded for it.

𝗥𝗘𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗧𝗢 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗢𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗘𝗧𝗦

How does this investment fit into the rest of your portfolio? Risk and Relation should always come before returns.

Don’t over-concentrate your eggs in the same basket. When you play the investment game, there will be wins and losses. It's less stressful to have a series of small wins, compared to waiting for a big gamble to pay off.

Be proud of your scars. Wear them like a badge of honour that you earned from the challenges that life threw at you!

𝗦𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗦 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗛𝗔𝗩𝗘 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗟𝗘𝗗

It is part of the healing process after your skin has been cut or damaged. Scars appear after our bleeding has stopped and our wound has closed.

They remind us that we have moved on.

𝗦𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗦 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗟𝗜𝗞𝗘 𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗢𝗢𝗦 𝗕𝗨𝗧 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 𝗕𝗘𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗦

They need not be just physical scars. It could have been a failed business venture or a failed marriage. Maybe you dropped out of school; perhaps you got bankrupted before. Maybe you had a miscarriage.

There is an interesting story behind every scar. Each of them is like a bookmark in your autobiography.

The damage you suffered in the past has made you who you are today.

Every person in this world has made mistakes before. We've all gotten hurt in the past. There is no reason why you should feel embarrassed about it.

Scars are proof that you had a difficult time in your life, but more importantly, you have overcome it, and you are a survivor!

Your stumbling blocking will become your 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗣𝗣𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗡𝗘!

The mess you created will become your 𝗠𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗔𝗚𝗘!

The trial you went through will become your 𝗧𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗬!

The pain you felt will give you 𝗣𝗢𝗪𝗘𝗥!

So wear your scars proud and show the world that you are not ashamed of your past!

Entrepreneurship is kind of similar to surfing.

𝗪𝗛𝗜𝗟𝗘 𝗦𝗢𝗠𝗘 𝗦𝗘𝗘 𝗗𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗥...

Surfing can be a dangerous sport. You might get attacked by sharks, stung by jellyfish, swept away by the currents etc.

You will fall off the surfboard countless times, and the seawater might get into your eyes and nose. Getting wet is a given.

Similarly, everyone knows that starting a business can be full of risks. You might lose money; there might be liability risks.

It is a life filled with hardship and endless work. Business is full of ups and downs. There will always be new problems to solve, constant struggles and challenges. Failed ideas and projects are a given.

𝗢𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗦𝗘𝗘 𝗢𝗣𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗬

When a surfer rides the waves, it looks like the surfer is a master of the seas. Surfing looks cool, feels great, and is a fantastic lifestyle.

Running a business gives you the freedom to control your own time. You own the work that you do, you set the rules, and you have the possibility to be very, very wealthy.

It is a classic case where the rewards can be worth the risks!

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝗧𝗢 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗧

I had a conversation with a friend about starting a side, home-based business. This person knew very little about business and entrepreneurship.

Entrepreneurship isn't a path that is suitable for everyone. For a person who has not started a business before, entrepreneurship is a new arena.

Yet, the pain of regret for not trying is much worse than the sting of failure.
