How many things are sitting in your Shopee or Lazada cart right now?

Impulse buying is not always about poor budgeting. For busy professionals and high earners, the bigger issue is how repeated, seemingly harmless purchases can slowly reduce the money available for investing.

Our latest article introduces a simple 72-hour rule:

Before buying a high-priced, non-essential item, move the same amount into a separate account and wait three days.

If you still need it after 72 hours, buy it confidently. If the urge has passed, keep the money aside and put it towards your investment goals instead.

Over time, this small habit can turn forgotten carts and late-night purchases into meaningful long-term wealth.

Your retirement may not be delayed by one big financial mistake.

It may be delayed by the small ones you barely notice. ⚠️

A portfolio that looks “healthy” on paper can still carry hidden friction: high fees, poor timing, tax drag, static allocations, or a retirement plan that relies too heavily on default systems.

For high-earning professionals, entrepreneurs, and executives, the challenge is often not earning more.

It is making sure your wealth is structured well enough to protect your future lifestyle.

Because over time, even small inefficiencies can quietly push your ideal retirement further away.

In our latest TallRock Capital insight, we break down 5 strategic mistakes that can delay retirement and how to start realigning your portfolio with more intention.

Most horror stories don’t start with ghosts.

They start with one bad decision.

Buying into something you don’t fully understand.
Putting too much money into one asset.
Assuming everything will work itself out.

That’s true in horror movies and it’s just as true in investing.

With horror blockbusters like Evil Dead Burn and Backrooms hitting cinemas, we looked at the financial lessons hiding behind the scares and what they can teach us about protecting wealth in the second half of 2026.

If your portfolio could survive a horror movie, you’re probably doing something right.

What if buying certain investments became much faster than it used to be?

That’s one of the key changes introduced under Singapore’s latest MAS update.

Some complex investment products no longer require a mandatory advisory session before purchase, placing more responsibility on investors to understand what they’re buying.

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has removed a requirement that previously meant investors had to speak with an adviser before purchasing many complex investment products. While that means more freedom and faster ex*****on, it also means more responsibility.

Just because you can buy something with one click doesn’t mean you fully understand what you’re buying.

Hidden fees, lock-in periods, and risks that aren’t immediately obvious can have a significant impact on your long-term returns.

In our latest article, we break down:

• What the 2026 MAS update actually changes
• Why Investment-Linked Policies (ILPs) deserve a closer look
• Three questions every investor should ask before clicking “Accept”

If you’re investing on your own, this is worth a read.

Are you fully taking advantage of low-tax investment opportunities while living in Singapore? 🇸🇬🇦🇺

Many Australian expats assume their financial structures back home can run on autopilot while they are overseas.

Unfortunately, that can be a costly mistake.

We recently reviewed the portfolio of an Australian expat who had been living in Singapore for several years. She had no idea that her cross-border tax efficiency had slowly eroded over time, and worse, that she had accumulated a potential US Estate Tax liability of over $1 million on employer-awarded shares.

After a thorough review, Ian Black, our Head of Pension and Planning, identified several outdated arrangements that were no longer optimal for a non-resident Australian.

✅ The Fix: Restructure the setup and align it with current cross-border regulations.

✅ The Result: No US Estate Tax exposure, no annual tax, even if she returns to Australia, and all gains completely tax-free in Australia after 10 years.

The most surprising part?

She had never reviewed her structure since moving overseas.

Your residency status can have a significant impact on your tax, investments, and retirement planning.

If you're living abroad, when was the last time you reviewed your financial structure?

💰 Most families don’t lose their wealth because of bad investments.

They lose it because the family falls apart.

There’s a reason the saying “wealth rarely survives three generations” exists.

👴 The first generation builds it.
👨 The second protects it.
👦 The third often inherits it without fully understanding what created it.

The uncomfortable truth is that succession planning isn’t just about trusts, wills, and tax structures.

It’s about answering the difficult questions before they become family disputes:

✅ Who can join the family business?
✅ How are disagreements resolved?
✅ What values should future generations uphold?
✅ How do you keep a family united as wealth grows?

⚠️ Wealth fragmentation rarely happens because of poor market performance.

It happens because of misalignment, miscommunication, and conflict.

This Father’s Day, instead of focusing on what wealth can buy, consider what actually protects it.

📜 A Family Constitution may be one of the most important documents a family ever creates.

Our latest article explores why.

✈️ Out of office? Your portfolio shouldn’t be.

June is when many Singaporeans are planning holidays, taking a breather, and stepping away from the daily grind. But while you’re checking flight itineraries and hotel bookings, have you checked your investments lately? 📊

A lot can change in just six months.

📈 Winning investments may now make up too much of your portfolio.

⚖️ Your original asset allocation may have drifted further than you realise.

💰 You could be missing opportunities to optimise your taxes and retirement planning before year-end.

The good news? A mid-year portfolio review doesn’t have to be complicated.

In our latest article, we break down three practical moves investors can consider right now:

✅ Tax-loss harvesting explained simply

✅ How portfolio rebalancing helps manage risk

✅ Why waiting until December for your SRS contributions may be costing you valuable growth

Whether you’re just starting your investment journey or managing a more sophisticated portfolio, spending one hour on a mid-year review today could save you from costly surprises later.

🎯 Before you head off on your next holiday, give your wealth strategy a quick check-up.

Many people assume that if something happens to them, their partner will automatically be protected.

In reality, that’s not always the case.

For LGBTQ+ couples and other non-traditional partnerships, there can be significant gaps between the life you’ve built together and what the law recognises by default.

Who inherits your assets? Who can make medical decisions on your behalf? What happens to a shared property?

These aren’t comfortable questions, but they’re important ones.

This Pride Month, we’re looking at the financial structures that can help protect modern partnerships, from Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney to trusts and property ownership arrangements. 🏳️‍🌈

Because protecting the people you love shouldn’t be left to assumptions.

This Vesak Day, a growing number of investors are asking a different question:

What if wealth could generate both financial returns and meaningful social impact?

At TallRock Capital, we’re seeing a shift from traditional philanthropy toward a more integrated model of “Compassionate Capital” — where Social ROI is measured with the same seriousness as financial performance.

From blended finance and sustainable infrastructure to mentorship and intergenerational stewardship, enlightened wealth management in 2026 is no longer just about preserving capital. It’s about deploying it with purpose.

As Singapore reflects during the Vesak Day long weekend, this is an opportunity for founders, families, and investors to rethink what legacy truly means.

In our latest article, we explore:
→ Why “checkbook philanthropy” is evolving
→ How Social ROI is becoming measurable
→ The rise of blended finance in Southeast Asia
→ What compassionate capital looks like in practice
