Meet Gareth, a 4th Year student at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Finance! Gareth first found out about internships with FKT through his school’s job portal; he’s been interning with us since December last year, and recently completed his internship at the end of June! 🙌

“Before starting my internship, my goal was to gain deep exposure to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know-Your-Customer (KYC) regulations and industry practices. When I first joined, I set a clear objective to familiarise myself with the necessary documentation required for customer onboarding. I definitely managed to achieve this; by the end of the internship, I was actively assisting financial institutions in conducting thorough due diligence for their business relations . I am really proud to have reached a point where I could confidently execute these procedures and advise clients on their anti-money laundering needs!”

An internship bridges the gap between classroom learning and the real world, giving students invaluable hands-on experience, practical skills, and a clearer understanding of what it takes to succeed in the workplace. In audit and accountancy, it also offers a first look at how financial reporting, client work, and professional standards come together in practice.

And here at FKT, our interns are not relegated to laborious or menial work. In fact, we treat our interns just like our permanent staff, getting them to work alongside our associates, managers and seniors in our engagement with clients.

Hear more from our Audit Partner and Head of People and Culture, Darren Chin, on what makes the right pursuit for you.

Say hello to Wen Huey, a Year 2 Accountancy student at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore 👋🏼Wen Huey has been interning with us for the past few weeks, where she's had the opportunity to work on different audit engagements and tasks with various clients. No menial or boring work here! Our interns gain real practical working experience and valuable skills as part of their exposure to the accounting world, working alongside our colleagues just like any other permanent staff.

"When I first joined, my goal was to gain a better understanding of the audit profession and bridge the gap between what I learn in university and how it is applied in practice. I also wanted to challenge myself in a professional environment and develop both my technical knowledge and soft skills. I would say I achieved those goals. Throughout the internship, I have gained hands-on experience across different audit engagements, learnt from experienced colleagues, and become more confident in applying accounting knowledge in real situations. The experience has also given me a clearer understanding of the profession and strengthened my interest in pursuing a career in audit and accounting!"

A mid-week sweet treat? Yes please! 🍦

As part of our monthly staff welfare initiative, June saw us treating our colleagues to some refreshing ice cream, complete with push-cart and vendor. Nothing beats a refreshing break to combat the mid-day fatigue, and judging by all the smiles on our colleagues' faces, it was certainly a welcome break from work! 😋

Meet Stella, a Year 3 Accountancy and Finance student at Nanyang Polytechnic, who has been interning with us since March! Stella joined FKT as part of her school's internship attachment, and she will be with us until mid-August when she returns back for studies 🌟

Just like many of our interns, Stella is finding her internship meaningful and beneficial to her studies. "Before starting the internship, my aim was to gain practical experience in the audit industry and better understand the working environment. I also wanted to improve my confidence and technical skills," she says. "I think I managed to achieve these goals because I was given opportunities to handle real audit tasks and learnt a lot from my colleagues and supervisors throughout the internship!" ✨

We are glad to have hosted four Hwa Chong Institution students during their June 2026 Talent Attachment & Grooming (TAG) programme!

It was a pleasure hosting them here at our firm, working with them and supporting their learning journey. We hope the experience gave them useful exposure to the working world and in particular, the accounting industry, and helped them develop new skills that will complement their studies 🌟

Meet Pauline, who is currently a Year 3 Accountancy student at Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and have been interning with us for about 5 months so far! 🌟 Let's hear from her about

" My internship taught me the importance of truly understanding what I’m doing and why I’m doing it - learning to ask questions rather than just completing tasks blindly. I believe this mindset will really help me to better appreciate the learning as I finish my final year of studies. When I first started, my main goal was to gain exposure to a professional work environment and learn from people with real industry experience. I also wanted to better understand the different parts of the audit process. So far, I’ve been able to achieve these goals, as I’ve been exposed to various areas of audit and learned how different procedures are applied to different financial statement items!” ✨

“I definitely learnt a lot of things that complement my studies in accountancy and finance. For instance, I can now greater appreciate the role that auditors played and why they are so important. After shadowing my colleagues and performing the tasks assigned to me, it makes my understanding on auditing a lot more clearer! I hope to gain as much knowledge as possible before I head back to school ✨
