6) Background of the Ai-Fin Founder:
Aimo Makunza is a certified accountant, with 5 years experience in the banking sector and 17 years experience working in NGOs. In her professional journey, she has guided management on financial issues and elaborated financial matters to various Boards and during Annual General Meetings. She has managed multinational projects worth $350,000 – $450,000 per year for more than 10 years, and also led a project of TZS 2.5 billion involving five local NGOs. She acquired her undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Commerce and Management (BCOM) in Marketing at the University of Dar es Salaam and later worked with Standard Chartered Bank in various capacities as a customer service officer, bank reconciliation officer, branch administrative officer and branch support officer. She later acquired a Master’s Degree (M.Sc) in Development Planning and Management at the University of Dortmund, Germany jointly with Kumasi University of Science and Technology of Ghana. Thereafter she joined Tanzania Media Women’s Association and worked as a Senior Accountant for 17 years. She is a certified professional accountant by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). After working with NGOs, she realized that staff in civil society organizations need capacity building, especially on the issues of finances, relationships and customer care. In addition to staff training, leadership training is also very key to the sustainability of an organization. Apart from her educational and professional accomplishments, Aimo Makunza is friendly and humble, often praised for her work ethics and commitment to serving her clients wholeheartedly.
7) Companies Ai-Fin Worked With:
i. In 2021, Ai-Fin’s founder worked with Zaina Foundation, a private NGO promoting digital rights awareness in Tanzania, where Ai-Fin’s founder reviewed their financial documentation and helped them prepare payment vouchers, filling, cash book, bank reconciliation and furnished them with a proper format for monthly reports.
