Emerging market equities have delivered their strongest stretch of outperformance versus U.S. stocks since 2010—rising roughly 50% over the past 12 months.

Why does this matter?
History shows that when emerging markets begin to lead, the trend often persists. In fact:

• Periods of strong EM outperformance (+20% or more) have historically been followed by continued gains, averaging +4.7% in the following year.

• Conversely, weaker periods have tended to lag further, reinforcing how leadership cycles can build on themselves.

Translation: This kind of momentum is rarely isolated—it often reflects shifting global leadership within markets.

It’s a good reminder that market leadership is never static. The areas that have lagged for years can quickly reemerge as leaders, and staying diversified means being ready when those shifts occur.
