************************BOI FinCen Reporting************************

UGH...........I have been putting this off for a while. I am only posting this because I do not have time to reach out to everyone personally.

I have a lot of different feelings about all this reporting. I am not really here to share my opinion, only to bring awareness to the BOI FinCen Reporting.

Do it, don't do it....................that's up to you!

Good news! Figured we would’ve heard a little more buzz 🐝 about it by now… but looks like there is more money falling from the sky! πŸ’ΈπŸ’ΈπŸ’ΈπŸ’Έ

The Illinois Family Relief Plan was signed this week, resulting in many of you Illinois residents seeing checks in the πŸ“¬ or money in the 🏦 starting the week of September 12th, 2022.

β€’ 🏑 Property Tax Rebate: Qualified property owners will receive a rebate equal to the property tax credit claimed on their 2021 IL-1040 form - maximum payment $300.

β€’ πŸ‘€ Individual Income Tax Rebate: Single person = $50, Joint filers = $100, and $100 per dependent (with a maximum of 3 dependents = $300).

Might not be millions, but it will surely buy a tank of gas! ⛽️ πŸš™

Of course, with everything there are certain requirements you must meet. If you wanted to read more about it you can read the article in the comments.

If you file(d) your 2021 IL-1040 and Schedule ICR, you will automatically receive your πŸ’°πŸ’°πŸ’°! If not, you have until October 17th to do so. If this is something we can help you with, or if you have any additional questions or concerns, you can reach us at ☎️ (309) 582-5066. Thank you & please share! 😊

IMPORTANT UPDATE: IRS will recalculate taxes on 2020 unemployment benefits and start issuing refunds in May

:: As mentioned previously, individuals that received unemployment compensation in 2020 were eligible to exclude up to $10,200 – meaning this amount of unemployment is non-taxable.

:: Beginning in May, the IRS will automatically begin refunding money to eligible people that have already filed their tax return reporting unemployment compensation before the recent changes made by the American Rescue Plan. These refunds are expected to continue into the summer.

:: Taxpayers only need to file an amended return if the recalculations make them newly eligible for additional federal tax credits or deductions not already included on their original tax return. For example, taxpayers that claimed the earned income tax credit and now have an adjustment to their income level due to this exclusion may now be eligible for an increase in the EITC amount.

Questions? We are here to help. Keeping up with the ever-changing tax laws is tedious - so let us worry about it for you. Feel free to send us a message or give us a call at 309-582-5066. Thank you!

Important info for our clients & community members regarding the tax deadline and unemployment.

:: As of Wednesday, the IRS has made the decision to delay the tax filing and payment deadline for individuals to May 17th from April 15th for 2020 returns. This does not affect deadlines for corporate, partnership or nonprofit tax returns.

:: This does NOT apply to the first quarter estimated tax payments. The deadline for them remains April 15th; after that date interest & penalties on unpaid amounts will apply.

:: Good news for those that received unemployment compensation in 2020, the law was recently changed to exempt up to $10,200 of it from federal tax. If you have already filed your 2020 tax return, the IRS strongly urges you NOT to file an amended return. They haven't announced what steps to take - but plan to do so soon. For those that haven't yet filed their 2020 return, the IRS has released guidance for tax preparers but we are currently waiting on software updates.

We are working diligently to stay up to date on the ever changing laws to make sure we can do the very best by all of our clients.

If you have any questions, please send us a message or give us a call at 309.582.5066. Thank you!!

We hope our clients & community members are doing well during this unprecedented time. Our office continues to stay open Monday through Friday from 9:00 - 5:00, and Saturday by appointment.

As always, the fastest and best option for getting refunds is to use the IRS e-file program with direct deposit. Due to end of the year tax changes, the IRS has pushed the opening day for filing 2020 individual returns to Friday, February 12th.

In an effort to protect ourselves and our clients, we are encouraging contactless document drop off more than ever. While the IRS has pushed the opening day for filing, we are still happy to accept your documents whenever you have them ready!

How to get us your documents:

β€’ Stop in & drop off right inside the door or at our front counter.
β€’ Request an in person or drop off appointment on our page.
β€’ Utilize our new & secure outdoor drop box!
β€’ Call us at (309) 582-5066 for curbside pick-up.
β€’ Email your documents to [email protected].

We value our clients, and we want to be as flexible and accommodating as possible. Thank you!
