I've had a few questions about filing fees from people, and I hope I can answer those here.
First, my filing fees fit into two large categories:
Individual Returns - $160
Entity Returns - $250
I know that the terminology isn't clear, and this is what has prompted other questions.
Individual Returns encompasses all filing statuses; Single / HOH / MFJ / MFS. These are priced per return. This does mean that if you and your spouse are filing MFS returns, they are priced per return, so the fee would be $320 for both combined. These returns also include self-employment income except for entities. These are S-Corps, C-Corps, Partnerships, Non-Profits. If it is an entity that uses the entity filing deadline (March 15th) that is a separate fee.
This is a good lead into entity returns. These forms are your 1065 and 1120s. There are others too. These returns are the informational ones that have to be filed so that every partner / manager / owner receives their K-1 to file personal Taxes, these are $250 and have an earlier deadline. If you're a sole proprietor or your business is established ONLY as an LLC, you won't need to pay this fee, it's part of the individual return.
Final point of clarification, if your business records aren't updated, and I need to do any bookkeeping to track down your total income and expenses, that is an additional fee at a rate of $30 per hour, with most businesses taking 1-3 hours PER MONTH to finalize bookkeeping for them. So if your work is already all done, you'll only pay the $160.
I'm only making this post so that people can identify up front what their costs are, but I provide no-cost consultations and will quote you a rate up front as well without any additional charge. ๐งก๐๐ค
