🚩 Tax Scam Red Flags
Tax scams can happen at any time of year, and scammers often try to create a sense of urgency to get you to act before you have time to think.
Be cautious if someone claiming to represent the IRS:
❌ Threatens arrest or demands immediate action
❌ Requests payment by gift card, wire transfer, or cryptocurrency
❌ Sends an unexpected email, text, or social media message
❌ Asks for personal or banking information
❌ Includes suspicious links or attachments
If something doesn’t seem right, don’t respond, click, or send payment. Stop and verify the request first.
If you receive a suspicious tax-related message or notice and aren’t sure whether it is legitimate, contact our office at 989-356-4531 before responding.
