The best financial conversations don't start with a portfolio review. They start with a question: what are you actually trying to build?

If you're looking for an advisor who leads with that question, we'd welcome the conversation. Find an advisor near you: https://www.bluetrust.com/advisor-search

Will aligning my investments with my faith hurt my returns? It's a fair question. The short answer: the landscape has changed significantly, and the trade-offs aren't what most people expect.

Values-aligned investing isn't just about screening out what you don't believe in. It's about building a portfolio that reflects what you do, and having an advisor who understands why that distinction matters to you.

When we sat down with John Maxwell, he shared a reflection that stuck with us: parenting, like stewardship, often reveals its lessons in hindsight. It's not our children's gifts that shape their future, it's their choices. A wisdom that holds true in family, and in finances.

Two hundred and fifty years ago, a group of people signed their names to something they knew they wouldn't live to see completed. They built institutions, laws, and values for generations they would never meet.

That's what legacy looks like. Not building for yourself, but building for the people who come after you.

It's the same principle behind thoughtful estate planning and faithful stewardship. The decisions you make today, how you give, what you pass on, what values you attach to your wealth, will shape outcomes for people you may never know.

Happy Independence Day. And a good day to ask: what are you building that will outlast you?

As America celebrates 250 years of independence, the founders offer a powerful model for legacy: they built institutions, laws, and values for generations they would never meet. That same intentionality lies at the heart of thoughtful estate planning and faithful stewardship.

For many clients, faith and values influence every area of life, including how wealth is invested and stewarded over time. We think that’s worth taking seriously. It’s part of how we approach every client relationship we have.

Our CEO Brian Shepler shares how he thinks about generosity and why it starts not with a number, but with a question of ownership.

Systemic. Strategic. Spontaneous. Three practices that shape how our team stewards what they’ve been given and stays attentive to where they’re called to give.

Generosity isn’t an afterthought to a financial plan. It’s central to it.

This summer, we’re welcoming 20 interns to Blue Trust offices across the country.

They’re joining us from schools like Indiana University, Samford, Wheaton, UVA, Liberty, Purdue, Texas A&M, and The Citadel. Over eight weeks, they’ll work alongside our advisors and teams — preparing financial plans, sitting in on client conversations, and experiencing firsthand what it looks like to integrate biblical wisdom into the daily work of financial planning.

We asked each intern what they’re most excited to learn. The answers sounded a lot like our mission: how faith shapes financial decisions, how advisors build long-term relationships, and how to steward wealth for something greater than a return.

Welcome to Blue Trust. We’re glad you’re here.
