Tax thoughts

Making sweet potato fries. Note my blood pressure cuff, lol. It just happens to be on that same end of the kitchen counter. My BP is under control.

Couple of things about individual income tax.

1. If you are under 59-1/2, please do not take a distribution from your IRA until you discuss it with a tax professional. Without planning, it almost NEVER ends well.

2. If your kids all graduate and move on, please change your withholding on Form W4 with your company's personnel office. Also, they are grown ups now and pay grown up CPA fees, so please let them know.

3. If your spouse dies, you have to change your withholding and/or estimated tax payments.

4. If you are recently retired and are taking distributions from multiple IRSs and pensions, these guys don't know about each other. They may take out federal withholding, but it may not be enough. Tax plan.

Those are the things most on my mind today. Please keep in mind that most life changes have a federal tax consequence:

If you are born
If you go to day care
If you graduate and get a job or go to college
If you get married
If you get a new job
If you have children
If someone dies
If you get divorced
If you remarry
If you retire
If you get a serious illness
If you go into a nursing home

All of these situations have tax consequences.

Don't you want to speak with these with someone you can trust?
