We are sisters and best friends and after working for other tax preparation companies for quite some time, we decided we wanted to create our own company - Denali Tax! Originally from Oregon, April moved to Anchorage Alaska in 2003 to start a family. Monica also lives in Alaska but still spends part of her year outside of tax season in Oregon. We enjoy the snow and all of the adventurous that Alaska has to offer. Helping Native Alaskan's get the most out of their refund is our specialty and passion.

For any returns that have been e-filed that have Earned Income Tax Credit or Additional Child Tax credit, you should start seeing some updates to the status on your return on the IRS website on or after February 21st and those refunds should start getting released soon after and into the beginning of March. I know the wait can feel long; especially if you are an early filer but it is coming!! Track your refund at www.irs.gov and click on "Use refund tracker" over on the right of the page.

IR-2026-02, Jan. 8, 2026 — The Internal Revenue Service announced Monday, January 26, 2026, as the opening of the nation’s 2026 filing season. This year, several new tax law provisions of the One, Big, Beautiful Bill become effective, which could impact federal taxes, credits and deductions.
