What actually happens during a DCAA audit? And what should government contractors have in place before an auditor starts asking questions?

During our recent DCAA Ready webinar with WiseCost, former senior DCAA auditor Paul Calabrese shared a behind-the-scenes look at the audit process, including employee interviews, timekeeping requirements, documentation requests, and common mistakes that can create unnecessary delays.

Managing Partner Brian Wendroff also joined the conversation to discuss the accounting systems and practices that help contractors stay prepared for DCAA scrutiny.

A little rain and wind couldn’t stop Clarendon Day! 🌧️🎉💨

We had a great time spending Saturday with our Arlington neighbors at one of our favorite community events of the year.

Our team handed out plenty of swag, welcomed lots of visitors to the Wendroff booth, and kept our co****le boards busy throughout the day. We even had a few future team members helping out. 😉

After nearly 20 years in Arlington, being part of events like this means a lot to us. It’s a chance to spend time together as a team, meet our neighbors, and support the community that has supported our firm for so many years.

Thank you to Clarendon Alliance for another great event and to everyone who braved the weather and stopped by to say hello.

Brian Wendroff joined 160 GovCon leaders and entrepreneurs yesterday for the 2026 Small Business Summit, co-hosted by SECAF and the George Mason University - Costello College of Business Greg & Camille Baroni Center for Government Contracting.

This year’s theme, “Navigating Small Business GovCon Realities: What Is My ‘North Star?’”, focused on how small government contractors can stay grounded in a clear vision while navigating change, uncertainty, and an evolving federal marketplace.

Brian attended alongside partners Alfonso Aguilera, Co-Founder of WiseCost, and Terri Dunbar, CEO and Co-Founder of Dunbar Consulting, Inc., joining a room full of federal contractors sharing their experiences and perspectives.

The event was full of energy, with great founder stories and conversations throughout. We’re grateful to SECAF and George Mason University for bringing the GovCon community together to learn from one another, make new connections, and have important industry conversations.

Clarendon Day is almost here, and Team Wendroff will be back! 🎉

We’re proud to support Clarendon Day again this year and spend the day with the Arlington community we’ve called home for 20 years.

Stop by our booth for some swag, great conversation, and yes — our famous co****le boards will be back. 😎

There’s plenty happening throughout the day, with live music, local food, b**r and w**e, artists and exhibitors, and activities for the kids.

Who will we see there? Come say hi and let us know you saw this post. We’d love to see some familiar faces and meet some new ones!

There’s still time to make tax moves before year-end. But that window is getting smaller. ⏳

A tax planning session with our team can help you:

☑ Estimate your tax liability
☑ Review estimated payments and withholding
☑ Identify potential deductions and credits
☑ Evaluate retirement contributions, investments, and business purchases
☑ Account for major business or personal changes that may affect your taxes

The goal is to understand what to expect before tax season arrives and make informed decisions now instead of finding out later that an opportunity has passed.

If tax planning has been sitting on your to-do list, now is the time to move it up. Ready to get started?

A competitive billing rate in a proposal is only useful if you can defend it later.

For GovCons, that means building fully burdened rates from your actual books, including base rates, fringe, overhead, G&A, and fee.

Brian Wendroff, CPA, Managing Partner of Wendroff & Associates and Co-Founder of WiseCost, Paul Calabrese, former Senior DCAA Auditor, and Terri Dunbar, CEO and Co-Founder of Dunbar Consulting, will cover this topic in the next session of the DCAA Ready series:
