The claim is that your birth certificate is secretly a bond, the government created a hidden account for you when you were born, and your Social Security number can somehow be used to access it.

There is no secret Treasury account attached to your birth certificate. Your birth certificate is not a bond, and your Social Security number is NOT a bank account or routing number.

And this is where funny internet advice can stop being funny: people have actually attempted to use fake Treasury accounts and bogus financial instruments to pay debts.

Please don’t let TikTok have you committing fraud trying to withdraw your imaginary inheritance from the federal government. 😭
