**HVAC BUSINESS OWNERS: EVERY JOB ISN'T PROFITABLE.**

You finished the installation. The customer paid. Your crew moved on to the next call.

So that job made money, right?

Maybe. But do you know how much?

To understand what a job actually earned, you need to look beyond the invoice:

🔹 **Labor:** What did the crew's time really cost?

🔹 **Materials:** Did equipment and parts stay within budget?

🔹 **Other job costs:** Were subcontractors and other direct expenses accounted for?

If those costs aren't connected to the job, it's easy to mistake revenue for profit.

In research covering more than 1.7 million completed contractor jobs, Level reported that **6.2% had negative gross margins**. That's a reminder that a completed job doesn't automatically mean a profitable one.
