A Heartfelt Thank You from Tobin CPA

Today is a day filled with so many emotions as Tobin CPA officially closes its doors.

What Shaun and I built together was so much more than a business. It was a dream, a partnership, a leap of faith, and something we were both incredibly proud of. And at the heart of it all were our clients — the people who trusted us, believed in us, and allowed us to be part of their businesses and their lives.

I want to say thank you to every single client who helped make Tobin CPA what it became. We truly could not have done this without you.

Over these past few months, I have been overwhelmed by the kindness and compassion so many of you have shown me following Shaun's passing. Your messages, calls, patience, understanding, and genuine concern have meant more to me than you will ever know.

I know, without a doubt, that Shaun would be so incredibly proud of what we accomplished. He had a passion for helping people, a tremendous amount of knowledge, and a genuine desire to make a difference for his clients. We worked hard to build Tobin CPA, and I will always be grateful that I had the opportunity to build it alongside him.

A little over two years ago, we had a dream—and somehow, we turned that dream into a reality.

I remember this photoshoot and making the video for our website. We laughed so much that day. Neither one of us could get our lines right, and we stumbled over our words over and over again. At the time, it was just another funny moment between two business partners. Now, it is a memory I will treasure and smile about for the rest of my life.

It’s hard to believe that something that started as a dream became something so real—and that today, Shaun is watching over us while I begin a new chapter.

I cannot thank our clients enough for trusting us and allowing us to be a part of your businesses and your lives. It has truly been an honor to work with my accounting clients, to get to know Shaun’s tax clients, and to help in any way I could. The relationships we built over these past two years mean more to me than I can put into words.

The road ahead looks very different, that’s for sure. But one thing that will never change is knowing that Shaun will always be in my heart and most importantly that what we built together will always be a part of me.

It is with profound sadness that I share some unexpected news. My business partner and dear friend, Shaun Tobin, passed away on July 14 after a courageous battle with cancer. Our hearts are broken by this tremendous loss.

Working alongside Shaun was one of the greatest privileges of my career. He wasn't just an exceptional CPA—he was a trusted advisor, an incredible mentor, a loyal friend, and someone who genuinely cared about every person he met. His integrity, kindness, and unwavering dedication inspired me every single day. There will not be a day that goes by that I won't miss him.
For those of you who had the privilege of knowing Shaun, you know the relationships he built with his clients meant the world to him. The outpouring of calls, emails, prayers, and kind words over the past week has been a beautiful reminder of just how many lives he touched and the lasting impact he made on everyone around him.

Many of you have asked how you can honor Shaun's memory. To celebrate the remarkable life he lived, we are planning a Celebration of Life in September where his family, friends, clients, and colleagues can come together to share stories, remember the impact he made, and celebrate the incredible legacy he leaves behind. We will share details as they become available.

One of Shaun's greatest passions was helping others succeed, and I want that part of his legacy to continue. In his honor, I am working with LSU Shreveport to establish a college scholarship fund in his name. I look forward to sharing more information in the coming weeks for those who would like to help support this lasting tribute to a man who gave so much to so many.

Again, thank you all for your love, support, prayers, and compassion during this incredibly difficult time. Shaun's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched, and he will never be forgotten.
