Utilities spend millions on lobbying every year to get them access to our elected officials. A new Maryland PIRG report released today reveals the big spending Maryland's electric and gas utilities are doing in Annapolis – to protect and increase their profits. Just last year they spent a $2.2 million on lobbying. Our legislators vote on policies and personnel appointments that directly affect our utility bills.
