15 years ago... My Mom started a bookkeeping business in her basement with nothing except a whole lot of heart and experience in accounting. Throughout high school, college and on I worked with her part time and fo

und a true love for bookkeeping and the clients she had. Then one morning in 2009 my life changed forever, unexpectedly she was no longer with us. I knew that she was in a better place but my best friend was gone and I didn't know what to do. A few days later, two of her clients came to me asked, "Jess, will you continue our bookkeeping? We hope you continue your Mom's business in her footsteps." I was honored that they had the confidence in me to continue managing their accounts. From that day on the second generation of Dollar and Sense Bookkeeping began. Over the last 6 years I have grown into a full time business which now includes several diverse small business clients. We have a professional, trusted, name and we have a lot to offer small business owners! Everyday I give it my all to provide the best level of service possible for my clients and I know I make my Mom proud. On a personal level, my husband and my two children are at the center of my universe. There love and support is amazing. When we are not hard at work, we enjoy bike riding on the Fox River Trail, gardening and finding new places to eat around our great town, Batavia! ⛳️ Turns out bookkeeping isn’t our only skill.

Last week, Jess traded spreadsheets for scorecards and spent the day volunteering at the Big Hearts, Big Dreams Golf Classic.

Despite not actually golfing, she managed to have a pretty great day!

Dollar & Sense Bookkeping was also proud to sponsor the event, supporting an organization that means a lot to us. Jess serves on the board of Big Hearts of Fox Valley, so she gets to see firsthand the incredible work they do for local D303 children and families.

Great weather. Great people. A great cause.

And significantly fewer spreadsheets than a typical workday. We’ll call that a win. ❤️

We’re pretty lucky to be part of a community that shows up for each other, and always happy to do our small part to help Big Hearts keep doing BIG things.

Okay, this was pretty darn cool!

Dollar & Sense Bookkeeping was so excited to be included in the inaugural issue of Persona Tri-Cities and even more excited to celebrate at their launch party at Playa Bar & Music Lounge alongside so many amazing local businesses!

One of the best parts of being a small business is getting to meet, connect with, and cheer on other local business owners. There are SO many talented people doing great things right here in our community, and it was such a fun night getting to celebrate them all.

Huge congratulations to the Persona team on an incredible first issue! We’re thrilled to be a little part of it and can’t wait to see what’s next. 💚

Hi! We are Dollar & Sense Bookkeeping!

We thought it was time for a little reintroduction around here.

We’re a team of number-loving, small-business-supporting women who believe bookkeeping doesn’t have to be intimidating, and you definitely don’t have to figure it all out yourself.

Since 2009, Dollar & Sense has been helping small business owners make sense of their numbers, stay organized, and get back to doing what they actually started their businesses to do.

Bookkeeping. Payroll. QuickBooks. Accounts payable & receivable. Tax support. Administrative help.

And yes…sometimes helping clean up the financial mess you’ve been avoiding. 😉
