The IRS has increased the standard business mileage rate mid-year, due to increased fuel costs!

January 1 - June 30, 2026 - rate is $0.725 per mile
July 1 - December 31, 2026 - rate is $0.76 per mile

If you track business mileage, it is highly beneficial to separate your miles for the first and second halves of the year!

Michigan Minimum Wage Increase!
Starting January 1, 2026 the minimum wage for the State of Michigan is $13.73

‼As of September 30, 2025 the IRS is phasing out paper refund checks and accepting paper checks as payments.
This means that for the 2025 tax filing year, the IRS will only electronically send refunds and accept electronic payments (with very few exceptions)‼

However, taxpayers should continue using existing forms and procedures for the 2024 returns, including extensions and estimate payments if unable to switch to electronic forms of payment.

IR-2025-94, Sept. 23, 2025 — The Internal Revenue Service, working with the U.S. Department of the Treasury, today announced that paper tax refund checks for individual taxpayers will be phased out beginning on Sept. 30, 2025, as required by Executive Order 14247, to the extent permitted by law.
