Team Wissinger CPA took on the Freedom from Seizures 5K on October 10th!🏃‍♀️🏃

It was a great day for a walk and it was awesome to see so many people there supporting the Epilepsy Foundation of Delaware 💜

One year ago extension deadline was wrapping up and I was working a job I hated. A job that made me break down crying multiple times a day honestly. Dylan and I had been talking about me quitting and starting my own firm, but the unknown was scary, especially when you consider the pay cut I would be taking to do it. But ultimately my mental health was more important. I pushed myself to get through the extension deadline, because I didn’t want to leave anyone in that big of a pickle. I made it to extension deadline, barely, but I made it. I put in my resignation at 7:00pm on October 15, 2025 after sending off my last return that could be completed. Then I stressed about the fallout, but the fact that it took my old boss 3 days to answer my resignation email told me I totally made the right choice.

Although Wissinger CPA was formed in August 2025 according to the Certificate of Formation, I use October 16th as my anniversary date because it was the day I was officially my own boss. It was the day that I could finally make choices without someone holding me back. October 16th, 2025 was Day 1 of officially growing Wissinger CPA, intentionally and with purpose.

Within 7 months I went from meeting clients in coffee shops to renting office space from the Middletown Area Chamber of Commerce. HUGE shout out to them for everything they’ve done for me, just the energy they bring is enough to make someone believe they can succeed as a business. The connections I’ve made being part of MACC are truly invaluable.

A year later and I am stunned by how fast my business has grown and the amount of positive feedback I get from clients and peers. If you would have told me a year ago that I would be nominated as a Top 3 Finalist for Delaware’s First State Favorites Community Choice Awards within my first year of business I would have thought you were crazy.

Thank you to every person who has ever referred me to someone else, it does not go unnoticed. But an even bigger THANK YOU to every single client that has trusted me, and continues to trust me, with their accounting and tax preparation.

⏰ TODAY IS THE DEADLINE: October 15th Tax Extension Cutoff

If you filed an extension for your 2025 Individual Tax Return (Form 1040) or C-Corporation Return (Form 1120), today, Thursday, October 15th, is the absolute final day to submit your return to the IRS!

Quick Final Checklist for Today:

⚠️ No Further Extensions: The IRS does not grant extensions beyond October 15th.

⚠️ File or Postmark Today: Ensure your return is electronically submitted or postmarked by midnight to avoid late-filing penalties.

⚠️ Electronic Payments: If you owe taxes, make sure your payment is submitted online today to minimize interest.

We are officially one week away from the final major tax deadline of the year‼️

If you filed an extension earlier this year for your 2025 Individual Tax Return (Form 1040) or C-Corporation Return (Form 1120), next Thursday, October 15th, 2026 is the absolute final day to file.

Important Reminders for Next Thursday:

✅ No More Extensions: This is the hard cutoff set by the IRS for those who filed for an extension in April.

✅ Avoid Penalties: Ensuring your return is filed or postmarked by the 15th is the only way to avoid late-filing penalties.

✅ Check Your Documents: Now is the time to double-check that you have all necessary forms (W-2s, 1099s, and expense records) ready to go.

The final major tax deadline of the year is two weeks away! 🗓️

It's always a good idea to give your accountant direct access to QBO. If not for bookkeeping and/or reconciliation purposes, then your accountant should have access to your QBO file because they know what they need and how to get it for tax preparation and/or planning purposes, they can review data entered for accuracy and compliance and make adjustments as needed, and they know how to fix things easier and quicker.

Adding your accountant to QuickBooks Online (QBO) is easy!

Follow these steps to add your accountant:

1️⃣Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner to open Settings

2️⃣Select Manage Users

3️⃣Go to the Accountants or Accounting Firms tab

4️⃣Click Invite Accountant

5️⃣Enter Accountant First & Last Name and Email Address

6️⃣Click Save or Send
