The 2027-2028 FAFSA opens October 1, 2026. If you or a student you support plans to attend college during the 2027–2028 academic year, it is a good idea to get started on the process early. So, with that in mind, our team wanted to share a few early steps that can help streamline the process:

🔹Create or verify your StudentAid.gov account.
🔹Gather essential financial documentation, including 2025 tax returns, W-2s, and income records.
🔹Determine which parent(s) or contributor(s) will be required to provide information, if necessary.
🔹Review college, state, and scholarship deadlines, as many institutions award aid on a first-come, first-served basis.

While the federal FAFSA deadline is June 30, 2028, many colleges and states set earlier priority deadlines for aid consideration, so submitting your application early can improve access to institutional, state, and need-based aid.

If you have questions about college funding strategies or how education expenses align with your overall financial plan, please contact our office. We are here to assist you.

Building your savings does not always require major lifestyle changes. Often, a few consistent habits can make a meaningful difference over time. Consider these practical ways to strengthen your financial future:

🔹Automate your savings by directing a portion of each paycheck into a dedicated savings or investment account before you have a chance to spend it.

🔹Set aside funds in your budget for predictable expenses, including taxes, annual bills, or business-related costs, so you're prepared when they come due.

🔹Take a closer look at your spending habits and identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary purchases that may be slowing progress toward your goals.

🔹Review your financial picture regularly. Monitoring your savings, investments, and overall net worth can help you stay focused and make adjustments when needed.

🔹Create specific savings goals for both the short and long term. Having a clear target can make it easier to stay motivated and build momentum.

Everyone's financial journey is different, but developing strong saving habits is a great place to start. If you'd like guidance on creating a savings strategy that aligns with your goals, contact us today.

The June 30th Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) deadline is rapidly approaching.

The information students and parents (if applicable) enter into the application determines eligibility for federal grants, student loans, work-study programs, and various state and school-based aid. As such, failing to submit this key form can have serious financial consequences.

Here are some key action items for those with the FAFSA still on their to-do list:

✅ Obtaining federal student aid (FSA) IDs for each contributor (student, parents, etc.).
✅ Getting all tax information from the previous year ready and any required financial information.
✅ Deciding which colleges to share the FAFSA information with. If a specific college has already been chosen, you only need to include that institution.
✅ Carefully reviewing the FAFSA submission summary.
✅ Signing and submitting the application before the deadline.

We hope this checklist helps those preparing for college submit the FAFSA accurately and on time!

Regardless of what milestones you’re approaching, know that we are here to help you make investment decisions that reflect your current goals and future ambitions. Give us a call anytime.
