And if you ever need something from the IRS, you’ll have it at your fingertips instead of waiting on a letter in the mail.

Verifying your identity can take some time, so it’s best not to wait until you need something urgently. Setting it up now means one less thing to deal with at tax time.

Teachers - before you toss those classroom supply receipts, know this: you can deduct up to $300 of what you spent out of pocket, even if you don't itemize. Books, supplies, classroom materials - if you paid for it out of pocket for your students, it likely counts. Keep those receipts throughout the year to take advantage of another deduction at tax time. 🍎

Good news if you don't itemize your deductions: starting with the 2026 tax year, you can deduct up to $1,000 (or $2,000 if you're married filing jointly) in cash donations to charity — even if you take the standard deduction.
