Retirement or transition from sports isn’t just a career change—it’s a financial turning point. 🏈

When I meet with a retired or transitioning athlete, we start with real-life questions, not jargon.

What does “financially set” mean to you personally?
Is it owning your home outright, creating generational wealth, or having the freedom to choose work on your terms?

What’s your relationship with risk?
How did “loss” feel during your playing years—injuries, trades, contract years—and what does that mean for how you want to invest now?

I’m Jessica, a fee-only financial advisor and owner of Southern Wealth Builders. I specialize in helping athletes and their families turn sudden wealth into lasting wealth through clear, judgment-free planning.

If you’re ready for a conversation about your next chapter and the legacy you want to build, send me a message or visit www.southernwealthbuilders.com to schedule a discovery call.

A quick personal update and some reassurance.

About two weeks ago, I was in a scooter accident and ended up with a broken leg and a knee injury. I’ve had two surgeries, and I’m now in the recovery phase with several weeks of non-weight-bearing rest ahead.

The good news: Southern Wealth Builders is fully operational and my clients are still getting the same level of care and attention.

Thanks to technology, I’m able to continue doing everything virtually while I focus on healing well and not rushing the process.

Whether you’re a current client or looking to get started, now is still a great time to chat.

Thank you again to everyone who has reached out and helped us with dinners, flowers, etc. Your love and support was greatly shown 💕

We’re celebrating 3 years in business at Southern Wealth Builders, and we’re feeling very grateful.

From the beginning, our goal has been to help people feel more confident when it comes to their finances — especially athletes, business owners, and those who are newer to investing.

Being a fiduciary, fee-only advisor means we get to focus on what is best for the client, not commissions or product sales. That kind of trust matters to us, and we’re thankful for every person who has allowed us to be part of their journey.

Our Southern Wealth Builders team wishes you a safe and meaningful 4th of July! ✨

We’re taking a short break to celebrate with our families, so our office will be closed on Friday, July 3rd.

We’ll be back and open again on Monday during normal business hours, ready to help you turn today’s opportunities into tomorrow’s legacy.

If you send us a message or email while we’re out, we’ll respond as soon as we’re back in the office on Monday.

Most people don’t “mess up” sudden wealth because they’re careless.
They mess up because everything changes so fast.

We see a few common patterns:

💸 Upgrading everything at once—car, apartment, lifestyle—before income is stable
🚀 Rushing into investments because you feel behind
❤️ Helping everyone you love before your own plan is solid
📢 Listening to the loudest person in the room instead of the most transparent
😴 Ignoring boring-but-critical things like taxes, insurance, and legal basics

If you see yourself in any of this, you’re not alone—and you’re not too late.

Our role at Southern Wealth Builders is to help you slow down, breathe, and build a calm, clear plan for what comes next.

Want to talk it through with someone who isn’t judging your past decisions?

Schedule a call and let’s start there.

Sudden wealth can feel like a gift and a weight at the same time.

Maybe your business finally had a big year.
Maybe NIL money changed your bank account almost overnight.
Maybe your family is navigating an inheritance or divorce settlement you didn’t see coming.

You’re grateful—and also a little overwhelmed.
You don’t want to waste this moment, but you also don’t want to rush into mistakes.

That’s exactly who we wrote this for. Our new blog, “Turning Sudden Wealth into Lasting Wealth: Where to Start,” walks through:

💡 What “sudden wealth” really is
⚠️ Common mistakes people make in those first weeks and months
🧭 A simple order of steps to protect what you’ve earned and start building a lasting plan

Happy 529 Day! 🎓

Saving for college is more than a line item in your budget—it’s a meaningful part of building a legacy for your children and the next generation.

A 529 account gives you a dedicated, tax‑advantaged way to put money aside for future education, one contribution at a time. It’s a practical way to say, “I believe in your future.”
