Catch an encore of "Your Money with David Hays" Saturday morning at 9am!

It's a step in the (potentially) right direction. This week the House passed legislation to make πŸ•˜ daylight saving-time permeant. What does that mean for Hoosiers, and the rest of the country? David will share thoughts on the impact - and upcoming conversations with state elected officials.

Also, is the Australian system of retirement something the US should consider? David will discuss how Australia's retirement program works, and why it may be something to consider as Social Security continues to be challenged for Americans - especially those not yet retired.

Plus - are your beneficiaries in good order? Have you looked at your income and tax situation? David will dive into the different ways people look at financial planning, and why it's important to see the big picture in things.

All this, plus Rod Holloway from CFCI will call in with a market update.

It's impossible to describe the impact Joe Smith had on local sports and Indiana University athletics. For more than five decades, Joe has announced countless basketball and football games across Indiana, and the nation, bringing a style and nuance to capture the attention of radio and television fans. His talents extended into many other sports as well.

You may know him as the man who celebrated you, your child or your grandchild's high school championship on a court or field... or one who recognized the anguish of a potential victory being stolen away at the last minute.

You may have listened to him call hundreds (if not thousands) of IU basketball and football games - knowing and interviewing players and coaches who walked anywhere the Hoosiers played.

You may also know him as the voice on 98.7 The Zone - formerly WGCL Radio - who bantered weekday mornings and afternoons with numerous guests and regulars, in a time where local radio was valued for connecting a community as a source of news, weather, sports and commentary. Many of our Comprehensive Financial Consultants team have been on the air on The Zone over the years, getting to spend a few minutes with Joe on numerous occasions. Anyone walking by Joe's office would see a museum of local sports history. Photos, newspaper clipping, handwritten notes, plaques, pieces of netting and more - along with a tape recorder and typewriter that Joe faithfully used.

Joe Smith was all these things, but he was also a friend. A mentor. A man who loved "his favorite six-pack" - his six grandchildren. A father of two, Joe loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them any chance he had.

In 2017 Joe suffered a near-fatal fall at his home, fracturing two vertebrae. Despite the recuperation challenges, Joe worked to get behind a microphone and call sports on the air again - which he did within a year.

If you had the opportunity to be interviewed by Joe, hear your name called in a game or just sat down to talk, you could easily be pulled into so much history and detail that you might wonder "How does he know this?" He didn't just know it - he lived it.

Our thoughts are with Joe's children and their families, his colleagues at 98.7 The Zone and the countless listeners who were entertained, informed and inspired by the passion and professionalism he brought to the microphone.

Thank you, Joe.

Happy Fourth of July - and the 250th birthday of the United States!

Tune in to 98-7 The Zone for an encore of this week's episode of "Your Money with David Hays."

July 4 isn't just Independence Day - it's the start of the new Trump Accounts, with opportunities for saving for children. David will give specifics on the plan, as well as compare the program to Roth IRAs, 529 college savings plans, UGMAs (Uniform Gifts to Minors Act) and UTMAs (Uniform Transfers to Minors Act).

Rod Holloway from CFCI will be calling in to provide a market update, as well as discuss jobs, inflation and more.

Plus, when thinking about estate planning, what assets should you consider leaving to people and what should go to charity? And what if you want to make a gift while you're alive? David will have details on ways to potentially maximize the impact when gifting money.
