Renee and I made a really good team for this year's tax season - thank goodness the deadline has arrived. This year we completed 375 individual returns for 2020 and filed 41 extensions today. We did returns for 16 different states totaling 38 returns. I also completed 18 various types of business returns and filed 5 business extensions. This tally does not include all the prior year returns and amended returns we completed. So, we are well over 400 returns for the season. And, we managed to increase the business gross profit by 33%. Hard work is exhausting, but it does pay off :-) Thanks so much Renee for making this such a successful year :-)

Quick Account Services surpassed the 300 individual tax returns completed mark and still have a little over 2 months to go. I definitely would not have been able to do it without Renee - she's been a life saver and has been awesome this tax season, doing well over 200 returns herself. She is learning the new stuff really fast and has a great rapport with the clients. Thank you so much Renee for saving my hide this year :-)

It just dawned on me, since today is 4/15, I did not post anything on the extension to file taxes for Texas residents. The deadline has been extended to June 15th - this includes making contributions to IRS accounts. Following is a link to the IRS website page regarding the extension.

TX-2021-02, February 22, 2021 — Victims of winter storms that began February 11, 2021 now have until June 15, 2021, to file various individual and business tax returns and make tax payments, the IRS announced today.

For those of you who don't know, the American Rescue Plan Act, signed by Biden on March 11th, not only allocated $1,400 stimulus payments to everyone, it also retroactively made the first $10,200 of unemployment compensation non taxable for households with adjusted gross income less than $150,000. So, for those that haven't filed yet, your tax liability on unemployment compensation will be decreased. For those that have already filed, we are unsure, at this point, whether we will have to file an amended return, or if the IRS will automatically correct those returns and distributed the additional refunds.

After going it alone at the office for many months, I have finally hired a new assistant, Renee Padilla. She started on November 16th, exactly 8 months to the day my previous assistant resigned. She is working out really good so far and has actually gotten me caught up on a few of the clients already. It's going to be a busy 4 or 5 months, but I think she will be able to handle it - at least I hope so. Welcome aboard Renee.

Today, I signed the lease for the other 2 offices adjoining my 2 offices - we are now in suites #101 & #102 and we actually have a kitchen area, which we didn't have before :-) This is the only area I have partially set up. Once I get it furnished and get some decor, I'll post more photos. I'm really excited for the growth in the business and can't thank all my wonderful clients enough for their support throughout my 21 years in business :-)

Had a new referred client drive down from Austin today to drop her stuff off. Makes you feel good when someone will go to those lengths because someone spoke highly of you :-)
