WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service announced today tax relief for individuals and businesses in the entire state of Tennessee affected by severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding that began on April 2, 2025.

These taxpayers now have until Nov. 3, 2025, to file various federal individual and business tax returns and make tax payments.

The IRS is offering relief to any area designated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). This means that individuals and households that reside or have a business in Tennessee’s 95 counties qualify for tax relief. The current list of eligible localities is always available on the Tax relief in disaster situations page on IRS.gov.

Tax Season 2025 - 1099 and other tax documents began being mailed February 7th for most investors and may include a prelimary copy. As documents are posted, clients will have access to documents via the Account View investor access site by going to their "documents" tab. If you are not sure when to expect your forms, please feel free to contact our office.

Reminders / Mailing Date Info:

1099 Consolidated Tax Statement January 17, 24, & 31: Accounts with the simplest tax information and not subject to income reclassification.

February 7 & 14: Accounts holding more complex securities, for which issuers provided final tax information after January 24.

February 21, 28 & March 7: Accounts where security issuers did not furnish tax information to LPL in time for the anticipated mailing date.

Certain types of securities such as Unit Investment Trusts (UITs), Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), mutual funds, commodity trusts, and individual stock are more likely to reclassify or have later IRS deadlines to report their final financial data to the broker/dealers and the IRS.

There is no IRS cutoff or deadline for providing a corrected 1099 tax statement. If a corrected 1099 form is received after March 10, determine the best course of action based on your individual circumstance before filing an amended return. We recommend that you consult with a tax professional to determine your next steps.
