FYI, in case you are wondering if the stimulus payments you received are taxable? Pre the IRS, the payments are not includible in your gross income. Therefore, you will not include the Payments received in your year 2020 taxable income on your Federal income tax return (Federal Form 1040 for tax year 2020) or pay income tax on your stimulus payments. It will not reduce your refund or increase the amount you owe when you file your 2020 Federal income tax return.

Also, the payments will not affect your income for purposes of determining eligibility for federal government assistance or benefit programs.

April 17, 2018 was the deadline to file your 2017 income taxes timely; however, you still can file your taxes, even if you didn’t file an extension with the IRS.

Here is why, the April 17, 2018 deadline doesn’t cut you off from filing your return; it only marks the date the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) starts to calculate: late file penalty fees and interest on taxes you owe for 2017. If you are reading this and you haven’t filed your taxes, or if you know of someone that have not filed their taxes, be a good friend, co-worker and encourage that person to file their returns.
