More money isn’t always the answer.

Unless you’re living below the poverty line, more money won’t fix your problems. It’s likely you have a money management issue, a mindset issue, or both.

Why you Definitely shouldn’t create a trust: A totally ironic guide

1. You are thrilled to leave the distribution of your assets up to chance and confusion instead of according to your wishes

2. When your teenager, who still can't do his own laundry, turns 18, you’re confident he’ll handle millions of dollars responsibly without squandering it.

3. You have complete faith that your state government will find the perfect guardian to care for your minor children if you and your spouse both passes away.

4. Your family never disagrees about anything—especially not about money.

5. You believe the government is under-collecting tax revenue and could really use a little extra from your estate.

6. You trust in the efficiency of our government agencies and the probate court system to handle everything smoothly and promptly.

7. Your surviving spouse is well-stocked with liquid cash and has no trouble covering expenses while waiting for attorneys and courts to process the paperwork.

8. You simply don’t care—after all, you’ll be gone.

Of course, this is all meant to be ironic. In reality, creating a trust can help protect your assets, ensure your wishes are followed, and provide for your loved ones. If you want to avoid these ironic pitfalls, planning ahead might just be the way to go.

I had an impactful weekend learning firsthand from Gary Keller and being surrounded by young adults who are determined to fulfill their life mission and hungry to get more out of life.

The most impactful thing I learned this weekend, is the 10 years following the end of your schooling determines the trajectory of your life. It is your “defining decade.” How are you going to live it? How did you live it?

It’s important that we find our mission for our life as quick as we can so we can spend our time becoming a master at what we love. Most people go to their grave saying “I wish I would’ve…” or “ I wonder what would happens if I did xyz” Live your life now. Act fast, fail fast, and keep going.
