Trump Accounts: Now Open to More Kids

Trump Accounts — the tax-advantaged children's savings accounts created under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act — have expanded eligibility to include children born after 2016, not just those born 2025–2028 as originally set.

These accounts let money grow tax-deferred for future use toward things like education, a first home, or starting a business. Parents and family can contribute up to $5,000/year.

What are "Trump Accounts"?

Trump Accounts are a new type of tax-advantaged savings account for kids, created under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (signed into law in 2025). Think of them as a retirement-style account, but for children.

Who's eligible?

U.S. citizen children born between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2028 get a one-time $1,000 seed deposit from the federal government to start their account.

Parents, family, and others can also contribute up to $5,000/year. The money is invested and grows tax-deferred, meant to be used later for things like college, a first home, or starting a business once the child becomes an adult.
