Did you sell your primary home? You may qualify to exclude all or part of the gain from the sale from your income when filing your tax return.

Here are a few things you should keep in mind:

➡️ You must meet the ownership and use requirements. During a five-year period ending on the sale date, you must have owned and lived in the home as your primary residence for at least two years.

➡️ If you own more than one home, you can only exclude the gain on the sale of your primary home.

➡️ From the sale of the property, you may be able to exclude up to $250,000 of that gain from your income. Those filing jointly with a spouse could exclude up to $500,000.
