The IRS is Expanding penalty-free withdrawals for 2 types of life events
• Emergency expenses. The IRS could allow a withdrawal of up to $1,000 to be exempt from the 10% tax penalty if it's for an unexpected and immediate financial need
• Survivors of domestic abuse. Retirement plan participants who have experienced domestic abuse may be able to withdraw up to $10,000 or 50% of their available retirement savings (whichever’s less) without a tax penalty.
Both are self-certify and once per year. Includes 401k plans. Need help maneuvering through the Secure ACT 2.0 and the ever changing IRS rules? You know where to find me.

If you itemize on your taxes and/or give to charity or have mortgage interest to deduct, you may not be getting a deduction at all! Look at line 12 on your 1040 form for 2022. If you see $25,900 (MFJ or $12,950 (single) then you're not benefiting taxwise for charitable contributions or itemized deductions. Let's fix that going forward! Your favorite words could be "I know a guy"!

There IS a Santa! the IRS is waiving about 1Billion in late-payment penalties for millions of tax payers with penalty balances under $100k from tax returns filed in 2020 and 2021.

The penalty removal is automatic so tax filers who DID pay a late-payment penalty will receive a credit or refund. However... if you OWE on your tax returns from 2020 and 2021, late payment penalties for balances owed from 2020 and 2021 will resume April 1, 2024.

Need a clarificaiton? Fine me for a brief no cost conversation. Ho Ho Ho!

Stay safe out there. The latest scam is an email from Intuit E-Commerce regarding your Best Buy Geek Squad subscription auto renewal. I did call them to go down the rabbit hole only to have them attempt to send me to some obscure website to log in to their "cancellation" department. I didn't fall for it and neither should you!

Be vigilant!

RMD age change due to Secure ACT!!! New RMD age is 73 beginning in 2023. If you are 72 in 2023 you are NOT required to take RMD. Confused? Let me know and I'll talk you through it.

Cyber criminals are after your money and boy are they really good at it. They convinced a company CEO in Californa that his Chase bank account was compromised and tricked him into logging in to a link they sent to protect his account. Unfortunately he gave them his security answers and the fraudsters called Chase and made a wire transfer just as they had him on the phone answering security questions.

If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from your bank your best bet is to hang up and call your bank yourself. Fraudsters can mask phone numbers so it looks like they are from the bank.
NEVER ever give out your security question answers.

I tell ALL my client that if anyone calls asking for money that they should give the fraudsters my phone number!

Stay safe everyone. Fraud is up 10% this year already.
