Path Act Funding Information

EITC and ACTC Refunds: The IRS began releasing refunds for taxpayers claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) under the PATH Act starting February 21, 2026, with the first deposits expected by March 2, 2026, for those who e-filed and chose direct deposit.

Key Dates:

February 21, 2026: The IRS started approving and releasing refunds for early filers.

March 2, 2026: Most eligible taxpayers who e-filed and selected direct deposit can expect their refunds to be deposited.

March 3, 2026: A commonly cited target date for refund availability, especially for those whose returns were accepted on or before February 15.

The delay is mandated by the PATH Act of 2015, which prevents the IRS from issuing refunds with EITC or ACTC before mid-February to verify income and prevent fraud.

REFUNDS ARE BEING DELAYED!!!

Refunds are being delayed due to the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act which states if you claim the Earned Income Tax Credit and Additional Child Tax Credits, the IRS cannot issue the refund before mid-February. This applies to the entire refund, even the portion not associated with these credits.
