2023 CP14 Balance Due Notices

The IRS says it is aware of taxpayers receiving CP14 notices indicating a 2023 tax due despite having made payments with returns. If you receive such notice, but you have paid your balance in full do not respond to the notice. The agency is researching the issue and will provide an update as soon as possible.

Any assessed penalties and interest will be adjusted automatically when the issue is resolved.

THE OFFICIAL OPENING OF THE TAX SEASON

The Internal Revenue Service announced today that January 29th will be the start of the nation's 2024 tax season and when the agency will begin accepting and processing 2023 returns.

Although the IRS will not officially begin accepting and processing tax returns you do not have to wait to meet with your tax professional.
