Here are a few tax credits/deductions to keep in mind when filing your 2025 tax returns:
- Qualified Overtime deduction: 2025 W2s are not required to report this, so you may need to get the amount off of your paystubs
- Vehicle loan interest deduction: Interest paid in 2025 on NEW (used vehicles don’t count) vehicle purchases for US manufactured vehicles only
- Electric Vehicle tax credit: For any EV purchased before 9/30/25
- Additional $6000 deduction for Seniors that fall below certain income thresholds.
- Residential Energy Credits: For solar equipment purchases and energy efficient door or window replacements.
Also, for 2026, even if you cannot itemize your deductions (90+% of filers cannot) you will still be able to deduct $1000 ($2000 if married) of charitable contributions. So go out and give some money to a good cause!
