Passion built your organization.

But passion alone can't tell you:

• If you can afford to hire.
• If you can sustain a new program.
• If you're spending grant funds appropriately.
• If you'll have enough cash to make payroll in three months.

Your mission deserves numbers that support it.

Not guesswork.

Happy World Chocolate Day!

Just like chocolate, not all financial reports are created equal.

Some are rich with insight.
Some are a little nutty.
Some are surprisingly bitter.
And some leave you wondering what exactly you're looking at.

The good ones, though? They make life a whole lot sweeter.

Now for the important question:
What's your go-to chocolate treat?

A nonprofit budget isn't a document you create once a year and stick in a drawer.

It should be a tool that helps answer questions like:

• Can we hire?
• Can we expand programs?
• Can we afford this event?
• Are we relying too heavily on one funding source?
• How much fundraising do we actually need?

Budgets aren't just about controlling spending.

They're about making better decisions.

We're officially halfway through the year.

Nonprofit leaders, now is the perfect time to ask:

✔️ Are we on track with our budget?
✔️ How are grants and restricted funds being spent?
✔️ Are we where we expected to be with fundraising?
✔️ Do we have enough cash reserves for the remainder of the year?
✔️ Are there any surprises we'd rather find now than in December?

1776 → 2026 🇺🇸

Today we celebrate 250 years of freedom, opportunity, resilience, and community.

We're grateful for those who came before us, thankful for those who serve today, and hopeful for the generations still to come.

Happy 250th Birthday, America.

I see so many nonprofit leaders asking, “How do I get donors?”

And the truth is… there isn’t a secret shortcut.

You build relationships. You tell your story, your “why”. You build trust.

People don’t usually give because they saw a donation button or received a flyer in the mail. They give because they connected with your mission, your story, and the impact you’re making.

They give because something about your organization made them feel warm and fuzzy.

The nonprofits that create long-term supporters aren’t focused on finding donors. They’re focused on building community, building trust, and telling their story in a way that people connect with and want to be a part of.

When people believe in what you’re building, the donations tend to follow.

Psst... 2026 is almost halfway over.

Have you looked at your numbers lately?

Now is the perfect time to see where your organization stands, what's working, what isn't, and what needs to happen to finish the year strong.

The second half of the year tends to move fast. The organizations that make the best decisions in Q3 and Q4 are usually the ones that know their numbers before they need them.
